Great dryer sheet tip!
I was roasting something in the oven & made a huge mess of my pan- to the point I didn't know if I could salvage it. I remembered reading a tip somewhere online about soaking the pan overnight with a some water & a dryer sheet so I thought I'd give it a try. The next day the baked on gunk literaly rinsed right off! I was amazed & thrilled (& a little smug as my husband told me I'd probably have to throw the pan out!)
I figured I must have seen the tip here since this is where I get so many good ideas. Sure enough, I did a search & found the original that Tussymussy had posted awhile ago. Thanks Tussymussy! http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t144540.html |
That's crazy! thanks for sharing

Yup! I do that all the time. It works
thanks for the tip & link, I just learned a lot about Bounce!
I tuck several Bounce sheets throughout our pop up camper before putting it away for the winter. So far, no mouse problem. Since it smells so fresh, we leave them in all summer, just tucking them under the cushions. I add several new ones each fall... just to be safe.
Wow, thanks for the great tips, I'm going to try them! I learn so much on this site.
I also heard they work great when camping as bug repellants in tents.
I put Bounce sheets in our motorhome cabinets and cupboards before winter starts. Have never had a problem with mice and it smells so much better than things such as moth balls.
Thanks for sharing..... I passed on to friends.

Thanks for the link; I missed that the first time around. My husband doesn't like the smell of laundry products so I wonder if there are unscented bounce sheets and if they would work the same way. Bounce comes in so many scents, do they all work the same when used as mouse deterrent? I have an appointment next week to have my car "mouse-proofed" as they've managed to get inside simply during an overnight parking. Bounce sheets would cost lots less!
I just scorched/burnt milk in the bottom of one of my good pans and can't get it out. I will try this - thanks so much for posting thiss!!

Another great idea to use a bounce sheet......if you get sticky residue on the bottom of your iron from fusible fleece or any other fusible, just iron on a bounce sheet and it comes off!
wow great tips on dryer sheets. i will try the rubbing on my dog this evening before the storm hits hope it works for my fur boy.
Another cleaning use - save the old sheets and use as gentle scrubbies on things like faucets, sinks - really makes them shine with just water - and for scrubbing cheesy / sticky messes from pans and bakeware that yuks up your regular kitchen scrubber.

Hmm, never tried that, but I usually put foil in my pans so clean up is easier!
Thanks for sharing this great tip.
we are farmers and my hubby puts bounce in the machinery in the winter and it works to keep mice out---also put it in the motor home and does smell good and keeps some of the critters away-- does not work for all however so keep checking--- pack rats aand racoons are the worse and very distructive

In my previous home I stored old books and magazines in the basement and they got musty smelling. I put a fabric softener sheet in with them and the musty smell went away immediately.
What also works if to fill the bottom of the pot with hot water and sprinkle baking soda. Let soak and it will lift the cooked on food.
What smell of bounce sheets do you use?
I will definitely be using this tip, I hate scrubbing pans.
Takes hard water stains off of glass shower doors as well
I wonder what on earth is in these sheets that makes them such a versital cleaner? Thanks to all of you for these wonderful tips.
I had scorched/burnt milk in the bottom of my pan (went outside to feed cats and forgot the pan). I tried several different things and the burnt stuff would not come out. I soaked two bounce sheets in it and the pan is almost clean now! And what is left is coming out with a nylon scrubbie. Thanks for posting this - I was sure I would have to throw the pan away.

Deer rpellant _ I have many hosta. deer were eating only two of them. Took a dryer sheet - put a long nail through it and 'planted it" near the hosta. no more deer !
this worked for me. not sure if it works all the time |
Okay well here is a quilting tip to use bounce with. You rub it all around the plate area of your sewing machine and when you machine quilt - the quilt slides real easy. :)))
Baking soda will do the same trick, and without the VOCs.
Liquid softener will work too, my mother use to use that. Also the new Dawn pot soaker liquid works fast! I love that stuff. Baking soda does work on some pans but doesn't work as great as these products.
Don't use oven cleaner of any kind if you have a pet bird. My Husband puts water in the pan with cooked on food, heats it on stovetop, turns it off and lets it soak. Off it comes, just plain H2O.

Thank you for the wonderful tips? Will Downey, Snuggle etc. work as Well?
I have always used them for cleaning the Sole plate of my Iron, comes up immaculate every time, don't know what is in them and don't want to as they WORK!
I tried oven cleaner on some of my aluminum pans and it turned them all black. Dryer sheets works for me and I also use them to remove gunk from my iron.
Good to know. Thanks for the info.
I use a tablespoon of cream of tarter in a burnt pan. Fill with water and boil a few minutes then soak. Comes clean--slick as a whistle.
thank you for the wonderful tip. did not see it the first time it posted
Used dryer sheets are good to rub gum & ink off the inside of the dryer & washer. Ask me how I know. lol
