At the top of the GCC page - Admin has posted Rules for - --- updeated September 16, 2009. According to the number of viewing, it has veen looked at 849 times.

How many of us have actually read the new guidelines/rules?

The PDA section has had only 849 views.?

As far as that goes, how many of actually read the instructions all the way through before beginning a new project or making a recipe?

There are pages and pages of folks
who signed onto this forum and have
never posted a single message.
And perhaps they never intended to
and so didn't bother to read the rules.
I signed on LONG before I posted a message
and spent time looking at photos and learning
about quilting and enjoying the conversations.
In fact, I didn't read the rules until I posted
my first photo and needed help. :roll:

I'm not much of a rule reader when it comes for cooking. I tend to see a recipe I think looks good, read the ingredients and jump into making it. It generally works well for me, but drives other people crazy when I give them a recipe and it doesn't taste the same when they make it.

As for the forum rules, it seems pretty self explanatory. Post things in the right category, no copyright violations, etc. I never read the how to post a picture; I just clicked attach files. This board is so well set-up there is very little need for instructions.

I belong to a couple of other forums as well as this one and I often wonder how many members are truly active. When I joined QB, I actually went through the member listing and made a count of active members. It was simple to do since they're listed in order of number of posts. Having said that, I'm a little embarrassed to admit I don't remember how many that was. :oops:

I know I read the guideline/rules for most of the sections, if not all. However, I probably just skimmed the rules for some of them, especially those sections I wasn't particularly interested in at that time.

The QB is probably the strictest of the three forums I belong to. The moderators and administrator seem to monitor topics and posts closely. I like that there are very few nasty comments and when they do occur they're quickly deleted. Another forum I belong to used to be like that until several members begged and begged to have a "controversial" section because they insisted they were adults and able to handle disagreement. The administrators finally gave in and although there are often well thought out arguments and interesting threads, there's enough nastiness and name-calling to cause members to occasionally get mad and leave. I don't get mad when that happens, I just don't read them anymore. Life is too short to have to deal with mean and nasty people when you don't have to.

Anyway, I do appreciate QB and the administrator's insistence on keeping to the rules.

I read them when I first joined and then again when the PDA hoopla went down. Most of the rules are common sense and common courtesy. Some is left open to interpretation and it is the admin's/moderators' right to step in and redirect.

It is one of the nicest forums I have been involved with. If there is strife - I am pleased to be oblivious to most of it.

Funny - "common sense" seems to be such a scarce commodity

I will have to admit I haven't checked the new updates. Bad me. I will have to fix that.

I had -- LOL - but I had to go back in to see IF I had! I agree with MadQuilter...this IS the nicest and most active forum I've been on. Everyone is so supportive and sweet!
