This is a program where dentists in the area are buying your leftover or not liked Halloween candy. Some are paying $1 per pound for it. Others are just taking donations. Either way, it's a win/win situation.
All the candy is shipped to the troops overseas.
I don't have little ones that go T&Ting anymore, but I thinks it's an AWESOME idea!
Just click on the link, then put your zip code in to see the participating dentists.

I sae this on the news the other night and googled to see if any dentists in our area are taking candy. There are several participating dentists within 3 miles of me. I love the idea.

We have no little trick or treaters in this house anymore, but we have plenty who come and I have stocked up on treats for them all. I'm on Weight Watchers and I do NOT want any leftover treats here to tempt me. If we have leftover candy, it will be going to the dentist for the soldiers!

Does anybody but me think it's just hilarious to bring CANDY to a DENTIST?!

seems ambigious, but has some merit once you get over the newness of the idea. My daughter is a dental surgical assistant.....man she gives us heck. I bet she's heard of this. She could collect some of it to put in my care packages for the soldiers, but she'd stomp her foot at me and say....sugar free only! ~sigh~

Love the thread. worth watching

Blessings,
Ruth

Just an fyi the troops throw majority of the candy out due to strict nutritional guidelines.

I've sent candy to the troops MANY times. What they don't eat, they will give to others that go to the towns and hand out to the kids.

We send packages to soldiers too. They need lots of different items, but many specifically request coffee, snacks, cookies, and wrapped candy.

If you don't personally know a soldier, but would really like to make someone's day brighter, go to www.anysoldier.com and find a soldier there. They list their needs specifically.

One important note: if you send goods for human consumption, just send the food packaged alone. Don't send it along with baby wipes or cleaning supplies or hand sanitizer. Mail those in a separate box.

Bless all of you who remember and support our troops even in small ways.
