Has any made the "keep the change wallet" from stitchen sisters?

I have the pattern and don't really understand a couple steps and I haven't found anyone talking about it online. I usually only buy patterns if there is an example of a completed one in the store, but this time I made an impulse buy because I've been making so many of those snappy bags from the free tutorials on line...I kind of felt bad for the original designer.

They are so cute and useful, I'd like to hear from some who have made them.

Now if only I didn't just shove everything into my pockets! Hate purses/wallets/etc. And if they made women's clothing with pockets I'd be that far ahead!

This one has the metal tape measure closure on one of the pockets and seems like it should be straightforward.

But 1 pattern piece is called different things, on the pattern it's the back pocket and the written instructions call it the outside pocket. Process of elimination, it's probably the same.
The inside pocket is the only pattern piece that says cut 1 interfacing. Yet, on the front page under preparation and cutting instructions we are told to layer 2 fat quarters and interfacing and trace pattern pieces for outside, lining and 2 inside pockets then cut out. So does every piece need interfacing?

The inside pocket pattern piece has written on the pattern: cut 1 fabric, 1 lining and 1 interfacing, but later the instuctions say "if you use a magnetic snap closure you may want to interface the top half" So, am I double interfacing that piece on the top? Am I cutting 2 inside pockets from both fabric and lining?
I guess this is why they say to read the instructions through first before you start cutting.

I'm used to pattern pieces saying, "cut 1 focus fabric, cut one lining, cut 1 interfacing, cut 2 fusible fleece etc" Maybe I'm over thinking this, but I feel a pattern I paid $9 for, it should be better then a free pattern I get off someone's blog. It could be me also, I so used to the indepth color photos and directions on different blogs that when it's condensed to 2-3 pages with black and white sketches of the steps I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

I hate patterns that are like the one you described. I always want to contact whoever designed the pattern & give he/she my comments, then ask....did anyone test this pattern? Sometimes, corrections that are found after a pattern has been printed are posted on a website by the person authoring the pattern. I did a search in Yahoo & came up with this website that has a "contact me" tab. http://stitchinsis.com/catalog/ I would ask them these questions you are asking of us. They will know what they intended for the pattern to say. Hope you get an answer.

I did a couple weeks ago. I first asked if they had a better picture of it of all sides because I was having problems and received a very nice reply where she gave me more information within a few days. I sent her back an email with all my specific questions and haven't heard back yet. I guess I could send it again and ask if she received it, it could have gone to junk mail or got lost. I may wait until after the holidays, they may be busy now. Oh, you know, maybe you're right, the first message I sent through their website and then the second I replied to the email. Maybe I should go through the website again....thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think about that.

have made quite a few and then made them into needle books too for the xchange on the board...Love them...I have one in my wallet that has my whole life in it. LOL, cards, DL etc. take it step by step and it will explain itself...

There is a tute on this site using metal tape. Measure for snap closing. Look in totes she explains which way they have to link conclaves together or convex together.good luck

I figured out my problem! Yeah! One of the pattern pieces is labeled weird. So you do cut a lg inside pocket and a smaller inside pocket.

My suggestions if you are doing this for a first time is label everything top and bottom. It may seem obvious which is the top and bottom but when I finally turned everything inside out I realized I had stiched the inside pocket upside down. And I didn't have the second smaller pocket, just sort of winged it to figure it out. And yes, everything is interfaced.

And again, you need to figure out your tape measure according to the earlier link. She says put the numbers facing each other, but mine is the opposite.

Sometimes it helps to explain what the problem is then look at it again. Thanks everyone.

I get so frustrated with poor construction directions I try to read them through because sometimes I know better and easier construction methods! I'm glad you got yours to work!

The designer got back with me today, she said they are in the process of re-writing the directions for this pattern because they get so many questions. It's nice when the pattern designer is responsive. It really is cute and easy once you figure out a couple things.

Please PM me when they reply ... I've had this pattern for over a year and never understood it well enough to try and make it!

I won in shop hop and selected a Stichin'Sisters pattern for a purse. It was a nightmare! By the time the bottom of the purse was sewn in I was working with 9 layers. Impossible!! Swore I'd never use their patterns again. After reading this post it seems like they have a problem.

It may be best to contact the designer yourself. Since I've figured it out she probably won't be getting back with me.

Maybe I can take pictures the next time I make one and post them as sort of a tutorial. Or would that be a copy right violation? I don't want to get into trouble. PM me if you want me to talk you through it. They really are interesting little bags.
