Has Anyone Ever Made a Graduation Sash?
Hi all you smart and creative quilters and sewers! My son asked me to make him a study abroad graduation sash for him. I tried to look up instructions on the internet and cannot find what I want. It simply has to go around the neck with both ends hanging down the front. I think the part that goes around the neck has to be curved. My husband seems to think it would be worth the $$ to buy the sash instead of having me make one. They are around $40.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! |
The honor sashes our grads wear are not curved. They might look better if they were, but they are not. Just a long strip with points on each end.

I googled "pattern for graduation sash" and a bunch of things came up. They also call them graduation stoles.

Try this link. If the link does not work, I googled 'how to make a stole', and it's the first thing that came up. You have to scroll down a ways, but it does show how to make a curved neck. You'll have to adjust the size, since this is for a clergy stole, which I think is bigger than what you want. If this doesn't work, try searching on confirmation stoles - they might be a better size. Good Luck |

I would cut a sample out of some old cloth for a pattern.

This one is for a minister, but is just two lengths sewn at a 45 degree angle. http://serendipitymuse.com/muse/2013...ject-revealed/
