I need a new kitchen countertop and sink and need some info. What do you have and do you like it? I really don't care for granite and was thinking of quartz or a solid acrylic. I've had a stainless steel sink for over 20 years and was pleased with it and may get one again but needed some input about other types of sinks too. How do they hold up? Was at a friend's house the other day and her acrylic sink of about 15 years is stained and looks as if the top coating was cracked. I thought acrylic was a solid peice, not something with a top coat. That's why I'm asking here as I'm sure to get lots of feedback. Thanks, May

PS: Was all set with a kitchen counter fabricator but glad I didn't give a deposit because they just went out of business. This was the fabricator that several friends and our contractor recommend so I'm really in the dark now.

My mom has marble and I'll be switching to that when I can justify getting rid of my formica top. I love the way hers looks and feels.

I have a stainless sink... (exta deep) like it....
just plain formica counters, dont' really like them, but all we could afford when we did it..(after the costs of the cabnets)

If I could replace mine, I'd go with a pretty Formica type. Wilsonart has some gorgeous ones. I like my daughter's marble for looks, but like formica for performance. Sink? A good quality stainless is fine. I do like the one deep one with one regular one side by side.

Mine is granite black, gray & white - it was here when we moved in 22 years ago. It is dark so it is not something that I would have picked out, but it does still look good. People are forever commenting on how good it looks. A friend of mine put in tile, it is very pretty but it has grout, and well, I don't like to clean that hard. So it just depends on what you want to do.

Our sink is stainless steel, double sided, it is fine. Nothing to gt excited about.

I have granite now but if I were to re-do it, I would go with Corian (or some other solid surface acrylic). It was beautiful, cleaned up so nice, you could gently buff out scratches with a scrubby part of a sponge, the sink just needed a little bleach once in a while to get back to original color. My granite chips easily around the sink and I have a few other gripes about it.

My stainless steel sink has two side by side. One small and one large enough to put the roasting pan in it. We do our dishes by hand and sometimes I just use the small side.

I have quartz. Called Ceasarstone, Silestone, Verona or something else depending where you get it. I LOVE it! Very durable, maintenance free & looks great. After years of tile & grout (in both houses we've lived in here) it is so easy to wipe up. I went with a coordinating cast iron/porcelain sink & am very happy with that too. I had a stainless sink in another house & hated it!

I have Corian counters and sink. Bleach keeps the sink very white and there are no scratches from washing pots and pans.

Over the years and the many houses we've owned I've had everything. When we retired I wanted the easiest possible housekeeping - so I went back to Wilson Art formica. The new designs look almost like the real thing and the entire upkeep is a wet dishcloth swiped across it. It will last longer than I will live; the same is true of my stainless steel sink.
