Help! Do I have to have a Google account?

I have been trying to download some October BOM's, but when I click on the download button it takes me to a page asking for my Google Account pass word. This has never happened before. Can anyone help me?

Where (what site) are you trying to download from?

Are you using Google Chrome? If so, try using another program like Explorer, etc. I think Google is trying to force us to use their program to open PDF documents.

So far, Google Chrome is working like a dream for me.

I've had the same trouble just using Internet Explorer. This is a new problem for me, haven't figured it out yet.

I use Google Chrome all the time too, it's just that almost everytime I try to download a PDF file you have to sign in and I never remember my sign in info .

Sounds like they are collecting too much information from their users.

Google and Google Chrome are notorious for this. Haven't you ever noticed the ads on this site? If I forget to turn off scripts I get the ads.
Last time I forgot all the ads were for frying pans....LOL
I was searching for a new 8" fry pan. When I cook eggs for breakfast, I have them one way my husband usually has his scrambled and wrapped in a tortilla. So I figured it would be easier to get another pan instead of dragging out the 12" one to fry two eggs......:)

If you are troubled with all the internet ads just down load "AdblockPlus". It is FREE and has versions for many internet servers like IE and Firefox. Now only obvious commercial sites have ads and you are going there to buy anyway!
Cannot seem to get the hang of Chrome, but I guess I'd better as iGoogle is going bye-bye. :(

linmid - Jenny is using Google Docs to store and share her designs and downloads. Therefore you'll need to have a free Google (gmail) account to download them.

Just set up a googlemail account at gmail.com, and it'll be ok. You can set it up so you don't have to put in much, if any personal information. If you are uncomfortable with any of the required info, just put in fake stuff.

HTH!

QKO thanks for your info. I now have a gmail account that I may never use, but it's there if I need it.

I have a second name and e-mail address that I use to sign up for all of these sites that demand that you join to get whatever it is you want...it seems to work for me...I don't get the unwanted spam in my e-mail, but I get what I originally wanted...you just have to log in once every few months to keep you e-mail active...easy solution that works for me...
