HELP>>>We have had and still are having the worst hight winds right now for at least 5 days. My husband ply wooded their outside "potty kennel" and they are still terrified to do thier business outside. I awoke @ 2 ish to pee/and poop on my bed. I washed everything I could get in the washer, how do I clean the memory foam mattress? Does anyone know what to do. I did e-mail the company and will call 1 st thing when they open.

I feel so bad for little Sunshine and her mom and brother. This wind is 85 mile per hr steady winds...wicked!!!!!!!!!! HELP

I can empathize with your problem. Our winter in NE this year is the worst since 1948, and our pug is having trouble dealing with the cold/wind. I feel sad for the animals in times like these.

I can sympathize with your problem. I had a cat that had some medical problems, and would pee on my bed. This is a sure-fire fixer. (At least it is for me, 100%).

Oreck (The vacuum company) makes a product called "Enzyme Odor Remover". If there isn't a store near you, you can order it online. First of all, get some warm water, and wet the area as well as you can. I actually had a sopping wet rag that I used. Then, with a thick towel, blot the area really well. I actually stood on the towel on the bed. Then spray the area really well with the Enzyme product. Do this in the morning, and leave it stand for an hour or two. Then put another towel down over the spot (I double the towel), and make the bed as usual. Well, not as usual, you should probably get a water-proof mattress pad. The next time you change the sheets, just remove the towel. You shouldn't be able to see a spot, nor should you have ANY odor of pee.

The Oreck Enzyme Remover is the ONLY product I have found that completely removes the odor and the stain. To work best, the area needs to be damp, hence the water first. But the water also dilutes the stain. Good luck!

April, I have the Odor Chomper Enzyme Odor Remover (the second one) here in front of me, but I have used both. They are both incredible products.

In the meantime, it may behoove you to confine the pets in a smaller area at night time. Most dogs will not soil their own beds - if they do, you have another problem.
(Yes, we have a dog, no she does not have run of the house at night, no, she does not have accidents, no she does not mess in her cage at night, yes, she has the run of the house during the day.)

I was in such a state of panic stripping and washing her that I thought for sure it was on the mattress too. I went upstairs again to put a towel down where she peed and pushed hard on the place and and nothing at all. No wet at all. I flipped it up and nothing. So maybe it did not go through the fannel sheets and mattress cover. Fingers crossed! I will be air drying the mattress cover. Thanks so much for your comments. I wish the wind would stop...these poor puppies are so scared! :cry:

JJs that is great that your dog does not have accidents-unfortunately not all dogs can be so lucky. Especially those who have been rescued from abusive or neglectful situations.

You can include the dogs who are advanced in age in the group as well.

Tinkerbelle can relate to the problem with the wind and cold.....We shovel part of the backyard for her. She really doesn't like the snow.
We keep 2 piddle pads under the dining room table for emergency use only. During the winter we go thru 2-3 pads aweek. Other times of the year, 1 a month. I find the piddle pads are much nicer to find a 'present' on than the rug or floor.

Yorkies, momma,little sunshine,and harley (he is a moose in puppies clothing)I have other posts with them in their wool sweaters I made for them and also of all 3 treadmilling...they LOVE to treadmill!

I just got out their potty pads seconds ago. I will put them under the table in our dining room. We have a hard wood floor in there. They haven't used them in a long time. They will soon be 2, and momma dog will be 6 I think that is right.

My DH snow blows paths all over our yard for Brewster - almost like a maze. He loves to run through them - so funny to watch. But Brewster weighs about 40 lbs. and loves the snow, so no chance of him blowing away! Hope your wind stops soon.

No idea on what to use to clean.. would use club soda (lifts stains instantly for cat issues) or vinegar if you want to make sure they dont do it again. As to stopping that from happening I suggest the bathroom at night time with some potty pads if necessary ..I would not want to go out in that weather either so if they are in a small warm place with a blankie to sleep with then no issues. Also crate them at night if you have to. They will not go to the bathroom where they sleep. Then you take them out (yes you go out with them too oh joy!) and dont come back til they go. Solve that problem.

There is a product called Simple Solutions that you can get from any pet supply store. It comes in a spray bottle and it is specifically made for pet stains. You might have to saturate the foam but if you have a wet/dry vac, it should get most of the solution out. Then you can just let it air dry.

I used it on the areas where my chihuahua peed when she was still little.

Also, have you thought of giving them a potty box in the house? I have one that I use for my little chihuahua and I use shredded paper. Just put it in a plastic tub.

I'm happy to hear about that cleaning product. I usually but a waterproof cover on our matresses though, is this something you could do with your's?

Oh, poor puppies. One of mine HATES the wind, too, and gets the rest of them worked up about it as well.

FYI, we have a memory foam mattress and bought a waterproof mattress pad from the company and that thing works wonders. We've had animal accidents and a little boy accidents (ok, gross, I know) and I've spilled a drink and NOTHING has gotten through that thing. And, best of all, it's not hot and sweaty like some of the waterproof pads I've used with the children.

Not that this helps you with your current problem (but I see that after all you didn't think anything soaked through) ,, but maybe it's a thought for the future....

Do you have a mattress protector pad on the mattress? They are worth their weight in gold. The one on my bed kept grape juice from getting on the mattress and I didn't know my grand spilled it until hours later. If your pets are trained to use the outside to potty then maybe putting them in the bathroom on nights when they can't go outside would save you a lot of work.

Glad your mattress was safe....protectors are a great idea and the various enzyme sprays. Our dogs both sleep in beds in our conservatory (like a glassed in porch) they don't have the run of the house at night. Any accidents can be cleaned up easily as the bedding is all washable and the floor is tiled. We also leave the bathroom door open in case the cats get desperate (we have indoor outdoor cats with no litter trays). Our very old puss, Sarah is 15 and if she gets "caught short" she uses the drain-hole in the shower...not often but it's a lot easier to clean up.

If you don't have the enzyme stuff, the area can be cleaned with a vinegar and water solution, then totally covered with baking soda....sweep or vacuum off when the baking soda has absorbed all the moisture.

thanks so much for all the great ideas. They are right now in their potty pad out side. The wind has slowed just a bit but tonight it is supposed to really slow up. Fingers crossed. They have spent most of the day in their x-large kennel and I hate that. At least they have each other to keep themselves company. Good thing they love each other. We use Nature's Miracle. It even gets skunk off the dog. I believe they make a solution just for the feline accidents. We just use the gallon jar we got for the skunks. Did I mention that my dogs are stupid and chase skunks???? lol

The first time we went camping, our cat left presents on DH's side of the bed. Guess he showed us how displeased he was. Nature's Miracle took it out.

Try resolve, it worked on my carpet when my cat threw up and left orange stains from the food.

I had an outside cat when an hurricane went over Houston and she was inside with me all night. i went into the garage and tipped the garbage can lid over on the floor and put potting soil inside it. worked like a charm. she hit it immediately. no way was she going outside.

What a great idea :idea: maybe we need to grow a patch of weeds in our garage...lol Our pups are trained NOT to potty on grass. Weeds and gravel is where they do their business. They Now they have snow. I am so glad they all love each other. They are all cuddled up next to me.

Awww, poor puppies...My 2 big dogs aren't happy about going out when it is rainy. To swim in the pond and get muddy wet-YES! But to go potty out on the wet grass-No way! I have to out with them and make them get off the deck and go "do their duty". On the up side-they have never gone inside once we got through that puppy stage.

Yes, there is a product called "BacOut"...and you just pour it directly onto the urine stain area. I get it at Whole Foods here. You can try looking on the internet. It's wonderful - I have to use it often as I have a child who is still a bed wetter.
