Help needed, not quilt related.

Can anyone on here tell me how to make a dog harness? My husband just gave me a precious little Morkie. He is so small ( 1lb. 6ozs.) that I cannot find a harness to fit him. Even the xxsmall or a kitten harness is too large. I live on a highway so I am afraid when I take him out that either a bird of prey will swoop down and get him or he will get run over. I would appreciate any help.

I don't know how to make a "fancy" one, but I know how to make one out of a rope (or leash). I don't know if I can explain this to make any sense at all....

You make a lasso out of the end of it. Then you put the doggies front legs in it like a vest. The bottom of the lasso will lie across his shoulders and the knot will lie across his middle back. Then you stick the rope thru the part that is lying across his shoulders and pull it through. Take the two straps that are holding his legs together and pin with a big safety pin together so it doesn't strain his little legs.

It sounds way more complicated than it is! This is how I walk my rabbits, and it works great. If you're using a leash, get one of the little key chains rings and clip it to the leash clip. Then slip the handle through the ring.

When you're done, leave the safety pin in and just take apart at the shoulder area and it will be ready to go next time! Just slip his legs in

There's one at the Moda Bake Shop.

I found this website for little dogs: http://www.gwlittle.com/ . They have a toll-free number, so you could call to find out if they have anything that will fit a dog as small as yours.

I've always bought harnesses for my 7 lb. dachshund, from a wonderful lady in TN. Her prices are very reasonable and she'll even add a ruffle, if you want. Her smallest size is quite tiny! Here's a link to her site: http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/3635339

She started making them for dachshunds but now makes them for any small breed.
