My DH called me before he headed home from work to tell me that he had been in ER for high blood pressure most of the day. He was feeling ok and it had gone way down. I knew it was high last night but it had gone down. He made it home ok and as we were watching TV he mentioned that if I had reminded him to take his meds last week when he was stressed it wouldn't have gotten so high. I was speechless for a moment. I reminded him that he is supposed to take his pills everyday even when he feels fine. He came back with, it would have been easier to take them if I hadn't "lost" all the weekly pill boxes. He never takes a rx for longer than 3 days in row any way, and gets angry when I ask him if he takes his pill.
Uggg! sorry for venting.

Oh my sounds like my husband :) If I don't remind him then somehow it is my fault for HIS forgetting to take his medication even though he is an adult and I thought I was his wife not his mother! Well the good news he is ok!

Sometimes you just can't win. If you take any meds yourself, you might just say, "I'm going to take my meds now, do you need yours too?" After a day in the ER he may decide it is much better to just take his meds than to have to deal with the hospital. That's a royal pain. Glad to hear he's okay.

My mother solved that problem with her DH. She would set them on his dinner plate at night....he had no choice but to take them. Never said a word, they were just there when he sits down.

Glad he's OK... make sure he knows you will check with your next DH to see if he's better about taking med's on time!!

Think I'd be more upset about him being at Hospital and not calling home.

But the gentle reminder up top is by far the best suggestion, mine would probibly just make it rise !!
Course could just be grouchy when it's up and he's worried.

Glad he's doing okay

Sometimes it does seem that it's "heads, you lose; tails, you don't win"

My husband has to take two different types of HBP medicine. 2 in the morning and 1 in the evening. He takes his morning dose as soon as we get up and around. And an alarm goes off every evening at 7 pm to take his evening dose along with his blood thinner medication.

you need to become a duck and let it all run of your shoulders or you will end up with high blood pressure too.
my DH is the same tho he does take his his meds he very seldom admits to being wrong

his health problem--- his resposibility---do the duck thing--remind him he is an adult and you would find it very hard to manage if he had a stroke---

Jorge takes tons of medications and at first he tried for me to remind him to take them. when he got his transplant I was in too much pain to help him and we made a deal. I gave him a kidney and now is up to him to take care of it. I was not going to remind him once. That was 12 years ago and to this day he remembers to always take everything. He actually reminds me to take the one pill a day I take for my thyroid. Once in a while he wants to be baby, but I have never given in. I didn't know everything he took until we started searching into patient assistance programs, but I still don't know how much he takes of what.
