Honey Bees in my front yard
3 Attachment(s)
We notices these bees flying in the yard about a week ago. apparently they had been there quite some time. The had been building their hive in some contracption the water company has in my front yard. We called the wated company, they call a "bee man" to come remove them. He took his vaccum and sucked them up then proceeded to remove the hive. He had a trash can to put the comb in and you can see that it is over flowing in the photos. I got him to give me some of the honey comb and will get the honey out when the bees leave the area or die off. The "bee man" said they only lived about three weeks anyway.

LOL!!! Great shots of a man at work in the best position possible!:D

|
Wow, that's scary!
|
That looks like a lot of honeycomb. Glad you got some. I didn't know their life cycle was so short. Thanks for the information.

the girls which they are the ones that do all the work live for 6 weeks. the Queen I think lives for 2 yrs.
|
Those pictures make you wonder what the neighbors were thinking...lol

Bee's live 45 days. We switch out our Queen's every other year.

I wish that was our problem. We have yellow jackets in the wall behind an outlet on our deck. I had the pump to our fountain plugged into to it and they actually pushed it out of the wall onto the deck. So far only one sting....to me.

I hope the "beeman" just relocated the bees to another hive. Bees that are producing honey are also pollinating your garden and your flowers...Most people who are called to get a hive relocate them so they can continue their work. I used to keep bees in my backyard. That's when I learned that whatever you have to pay for a pound of honey is worth every penny! froggyintexas
