So, its been hot here. Mind you not as hot as some of our southern freinds are dealing with but hot for here with our longer days, and I don't like heat. Today is cooler with a nice breeze and a few light rain showers. Perfect I thought, a good day to catch up with the house work. First task vaccume up a ton of dog and cat hair. I did the whole house and last but not least DH's office, a place I rarely enter....Didn't I manage to suck the 'O key' off his keyboard!!!!!Do ya think he might notice??? LOL

Good job that was the last room to vaccume cause I have learn my lesson, I am going to go to the sewing room to fondle some fabric.
By the way, I did take the vaccume bag out and found the key. But really...House work in never a good idea!

Amen Sister!!

butterflies5518 07-15-2011 12:01 PM

way to much adventure for an afternoon of sewing! But loved your story, made me smile.

Nanamoms 07-15-2011 12:07 PM

Oh yes, I agree! When I do housework I normally end up making a mess or hurting myself. LOL

quiltingme 07-15-2011 12:22 PM

Lol

Zhillslady 07-15-2011 12:37 PM

Luckily keyboards are really cheap - $10-12. Can you get in out of the vacuum? They usually just snap back on.

MisDixie 07-15-2011 12:50 PM

Oh yes I got the key out of the bag and its back on the keyboard. I wasn't happy at first but then the humor of it got to me and I needed to share!

quiltsRfun 07-15-2011 01:18 PM

You really did have an adventure. Like they say, "No good deed goes unpunished."

I just read an article online warning senior citizens to be careful not to over exert themselves in the hot weather. Today I'll gladly admit to being a senior citizen. Sounds like another good reason not to do housework. LOL

maryel 07-15-2011 01:19 PM

I look at the "housework" that needs to be done }on my way to the sewing room!} hahahaha

auntpiggylpn 07-15-2011 01:39 PM

See, just another reason you shouldn't have to do housework!!!

icon17 07-15-2011 01:40 PM

House work      your kidding

MisDixie 07-15-2011 02:33 PM

OMG....I think I am suffering from some sort of weird delayed heat stroke...I finnished cleaning the house!!! LOL never did get to the sewing room!
Going to have a 'wobblely pop' or two and try to recover!

Glad you all have had a smile or two at my adventure! Have a great weekend!
Dixie

scrappy happy 07-15-2011 03:24 PM

you got that right never do house it bad for our health lol

Tartan 07-15-2011 03:39 PM

I usually clean on Friday but I had too many errands to do today and didn't get it done. Not to worry...it isn't as though any one else will beat me to it.

Sweeterthanwine 07-15-2011 03:56 PM

I have a saying that "My house is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy". I live by that rule!

gspsplease 07-15-2011 05:59 PM

My mother used to say "We'll get all the work done first and then we can relax together" and then one day my husband said to her "But all the work NEVER gets done, so why don't we take some time NOW to relax together!" I'm sure housework expands to occupy all the time you have available, so I gladly set a limit (usually 10 minutes per day LOL) and then do whatever helps me to relax.

amma 07-15-2011 07:22 PM

"O" My :D:D:D

baskets4moo 07-15-2011 07:52 PM

O my!! Too funny!! After I finally stopping giggling thinking about watching the key disappear up the hose I thought, he must have known that key was loose. If he was my dh I just might have left the vacuum cleaner for him to fish it out if we wanted it back!!!

Charlee 07-15-2011 07:56 PM

I have a sign:

Welcome to our happy home.
Come in, sit down, converse.
It doesn't always look like this,
Sometimes it's even WORSE!

That being said, if it gets done around here, William's usually the one doing it! ;)

BarbaraSue 07-15-2011 08:10 PM

I agree.

The saying goes "Housework if done right will kill you!" I don't want to take the chance.

I'll quilt and let someone else do it that does a good job and doesn't mind it.:)

TonnieLoree 07-15-2011 08:31 PM

Mine usually resides on the brink of disaster and the edge of discovery.

MaryAnnMc 07-16-2011 04:33 AM

hee hee... I thought you were joking about the "O" key. Good think you got it back... L L just isn't the same without it!

Roberta 07-16-2011 04:37 AM

You mean we're supposed to do housework? :(

Mickie612 07-16-2011 05:06 AM

Please explain "What is this Housework"

Homespun 07-16-2011 05:26 AM

Thanks for sharing.

He He Ha Ha

running1 07-16-2011 05:44 AM

Momma had a little cross-stitched message that I live by... don't know where it ended up? Guess I need to cross-stitch one for myself...

"Dust is a protective covering for furniture!!"

:-D

flikkem 07-16-2011 05:54 AM

At least you found it. I once vacuumed up my contact lens that had just fallen out of my eye (when contacts were hard lenses). That was a big ouch!

Double Amen Sisters

Therese 07-16-2011 06:54 AM

Reminds me of the customer who came in the glass store with a broken chandelier. The housekeeper dusted it the same direction every time and finally it came unscrewed and came crashing down!

catmcclure 07-16-2011 07:49 AM

Well, our house has been rented out to family for the last eight years. We just moved back in about a month ago so my DH can be closer to his doctors. He's my cheering section, but doesn't do the physical work himself. Since moving back I've painted three of the bedrooms, took carpet out of one bedroom and laid laminate for my sewing room, painted the kitchen/dining area, and washed down both bathrooms. Yesterday I finally finished mopping the kitchen ceiling. I still have one bedroom to rip out the carpet, another bedroom to paint, and then the living room and hall to repaint.

Great tip: NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER rent your house to anyone with pets and/or who smokes.

writerwomen 07-16-2011 08:09 AM

Tie a rag to the dogs tail and throw a ball let them clean

dixiechunk 07-16-2011 08:55 AM

I agree wholeheartedly. BTW, I once lost the "F" key of of my laptop. I didn't realize how often one uses the letter "F".

Therese 07-16-2011 09:43 AM

I hope your husband does the cooking! You certainty will have earned your sewing time, in fact, you need to get that room done first. We bought our last house from indians and it reeked of curry. It took taking appliances apart and scrubbing with a toothbrush and redecorating and still the smell took years to get rid of.

My feelings exactly! A house should look lived in and not like a showpiece.

Well, curry is a hard smell to get rid of. When I was in college my neighbors were from Sri Lanka. The smell often drifted into my apartment.

Hubby cooks sometimes, but I do most of the cooking. He's having some health problems and so I do almost all physical work.

Therese 07-16-2011 01:18 PM

We built a house out in the country and are doing much of it of it ourselves. In fact we are putting in trim work right now. I'll paint the wall as soon as the caulk dries and then DH can install the master bathroom toilet!!! Yay!! Take care of yourself and your hubby.

As if cleaning the house yesterday wasn't lesson enough today I am cleaning the sewing room. How the heck can a room 8 by 10 hold so much stuff??? And I havn't gotten to the storage room or under the quilting table (in the living room) yet!
I found a little painted sign my sister made me years ago and I forgot I had. It say's "Martha Stewart dosn't live here!" Thats for darn sure.
