housework

We had the grandkids over the weekend, 5 of them. We had a wonderful time, but every time I walk through the kitchen, I find another sticky spot. So, as much as I want to go down to my sewing cave, I guess I should sweep and mop the floor before it is just one big sticky mess. DH just finished mowing, and tracked in some grass too, so time to get to work. If I try to ignore, I'll just feel guilty while quilting so I'd better "git 'er done"!

I can identify with you as to tracked in mud, grass and such. If I cleaned at night I could keep the floor clean until my Husband and little dog got up. Little dog refuses to eat at her food bowl. She doesn't eat crumbs off the floor either. If I tried to keep the floors clean that would be all I would get done.
I work everyday and get home at 5:30P. If I fix supper, I have about two hours of sewing time. I do make the bed and take care of cats, bird and sweep the kitchen before I leave. My Husband washes and dries dishes. He works full time also, I drive us to and from.

That's one floor I would take care of now rather than waiting. It will just get worse if let go! I feel your pain...... but also envy you have 5 grandchildren!!!

Floor is finished, taking a short break before heading to the cave. I had to wait on DH, for some reason he kept walking back and forth from the kitchen to his home office. Finally I asked him to tell me when he was done walking so I could do the floor with no interruptions! lol

I know just what you mean. I keep my grandkids every Friday and every other weekend also. My house looks like a tornado blew through it. It drives me batty somedays but I know they will be grown and gone before I can blink. Seems like it was just yesterday that I was picking up after their Mommy and auntie.

Yes, sticky requires immediate attention!

Yup! I know how that is! They descend on the house like a swarm of bees and before you know it they are gone, leaving an aftermath of sticky fingerprints and messes. I always have to go through the whole house with the vac, mop the floors, wipe down the door knobs, hallway, and hand railings. I have 11 little darlings with another on the way. Love every minute though! I always try to get the house work done before I sew. Then I don't feel so guilty for spending so much time at it.

Same here, but grands live across the country so when they come (rarely - we go there mostly) I just let it go while they are here and then tackle it. They aren't destructive, but, wow, sticky, crumby, cluttery, etc.

Sticky floors will mop up in a few minutes but grandkids grow at lightening speed. Enjoy them while they are small.

I know how you feel - but I would rather have them come and have a good time. When they go home the house is so quiet. I just pick everything up, sweep, wash tables, etc and I'm good to go. It is worth that little bit of effort in order to have them here. I have 7 and we have a wonderful time!
