My 6 yr-old great-niece (see avatar!) got some old duck tape stuck to a brand-new t-shirt knit skirt the other day. I've tried a lot of things to take it out, including alcohol poured over it, but can't budge it. I may have to resort to embroidering over it. Anybody have any suggestions? I've looked at all the hints posted before, but nothing works on this. I've thought about using peanut butter on it, since that works on chewing gum in the hair (I've heard). :roll:

I use goo gone on lots of things. Maybe hairspray?

Have you tried WD-40? Spray it on the inside of the shirt and let it set for awhile. Pull tape off. If it resists, give it another shot. Shirt can be laundered as usual.

Try wetting it and then putting it in the freezer for about 3 or 4 hours.

If that doesn't work, try pouring milk on it and rubbing with a paper towel.

If that doesn't work, and you have a Dollar Tree near you, go there and buy a spray bottle of AWESOME (that's the name of the product). The bottle says to dilute it, try that first. If it's still not out, spritz the AWESOME straight on it and wash.

I've been succesful with Simple Green, in the cleaning section or the automotive section. Get the plain one not the one for special purposes (stainless cleaning,etc). I would apply it to the spot,use a soft brush to try to imbed it in fabric. Let it sit overnight, occasionaly making sure it is still saturated. Rub with brush again before washing & wash. As a kindergarten teacher, I got out everything from permenant marker, dried PlayDoh,papier mache,pumpkin insides, etc. However, It is better to not put ANYTHING on the spot until you get home-not even water. They were advertising Goof Off to remove adhesives and paint on the TV. Not Goo Gone, but Goof Off it doesn't leave an oily residue according to the commercial.

You've got a lot of good suggestions ..... but I bet your niece would like the embroidery one the best! :) And you'd be a hero too!!!!! :)

Thanks everyone, for all the great suggestions! The 1st one I tried was the WD-40, and it worked! I'll have to remember that trick. Thanks to all who helped.

Also, QuiltE, the embroidery would have been on her little tush, so I really wasn't sure what to put there.
