I decided I needed to clean up my e-mail inbox today and went to the last page and found an e-mail from Konstantin Quilter's Board from October 25, 2007. So I lurked/read incognito for over two years before joining on January 17th, 2010.

Am I the only one who did this? I finally joined because I wanted to comment on a posting. It would be interesting to know why you joined too.

Vicki W 12-30-2010 08:10 PM

I jumped in and joined right away after I read a few posts because I knew I could learn a lot from the quilters here. (As a bonus, they are all sooo friendly and I am loving it here)

luckylindy333 12-30-2010 08:11 PM

I joined immediately- I was so excited to find this site! I also wanted to introduce myself right away.

I am always telling people what a great site this is and recommending that others join.

I think I just looked around for a couple of months first. This was the first forum that I'd ever joined, and I wanted to make sure that I spent some time learning the "rules of the road".

sewwhat85 12-30-2010 08:13 PM

i joined as soon as i found the site love it

CarrieAnne 12-30-2010 08:15 PM

Qbee 12-30-2010 08:19 PM

I jumped right in the night I found it...LOL!! As i recall, I needed help and went straight to "LIVE CHAT" for the answers I needed :D

sew cornie 12-30-2010 08:20 PM

oh, maybe 45 seconds . . . .

Lady Tapioca 12-30-2010 08:22 PM

I lurked for almost 2 years too! I think I was afraid I couldn't
write a post that sounded friendly

frugalfabrics 12-30-2010 08:24 PM

took the plunge and joined immediately...and loving every minute of it!

EskapetheNorm 12-30-2010 08:24 PM

About six months of lurking ... actually joined right away, but didn't start commenting until six months later. Watching the caring and sharing that goes on ... definitely a group worth being part of. I am not yet active in the PIF stuff yet, as I still have projects of my own that I need to get done. Perhaps in another six months?!

I lurked for nearly 3 1/2 years before I jumped in. I joined because someone was looking for some fabric and I just happened to have it. Now they can't get rid of me!! LOL!!

sueisallaboutquilts 12-30-2010 08:53 PM

Funny you should ask this. I joined right away but foolishly forgot to introduce myself. Instead I asked something, which isn't the proper way to start but that was awhile ago so I'm not too concerned at this point.
Sometimes when a new person just starts asking questions I realize I did the same thing~! lol
Live and learn!!

raptureready 12-31-2010 05:52 AM

About 15 minutes I think. I'm just too mouthy to keep quiet very long.

maryb119 12-31-2010 06:15 AM

I joined right away and I'm glad I did!

leonajo 12-31-2010 06:19 AM

Around 6 months, Everyone was so talented, was not sure I even belonged with the group.

mollymct 12-31-2010 06:55 AM

I needed help, so I jumped right in!

I joined right away, but evidently I didn't follow protcol either. I had a comment I wanted to make about using poly fabrics. I guess I am just mouthy enough I want to have my say. lol

gmaybee 12-31-2010 07:11 AM

I think I lurked for about 3 months. Now I try to get on everyday.

I think it was about the same for me, at least a couple of years. I was introduced to the site by my friend who started me on my quilting journey. But it took me a while to feel like I had anything to offer. If I had questions, I asked her. I never introduced myself, just joined and jumped right in. :-D :-D

BATIKQLTR 12-31-2010 08:44 AM

This site was recommended to me. I joined on my first visit. It is so active and there is something for everyone here. My favorite discussions are the tutorials and pictures. Although I have added to "chit-chat" a few times and have joined the BOM and the applique BOM.

I come here every morning now with my cup of tea...........

A couple of days :D:D:D

luvstitches 12-31-2010 12:10 PM

I lurked for about four months until my husband convinced me to join because he always heard me saying how nice everyone was on here. I don't know why I didn't sign up right away, probably because he had to show me how to set up my avatar!

Darlene 12-31-2010 12:13 PM

About 15 seconds. LOL

veronajules 12-31-2010 12:40 PM

I lurked for a least a year but learned a lot

amandasgramma 12-31-2010 12:49 PM

I joined almost immediatly --- when I realized I couldn't see the pictures until I joined!!!!!!

Melinda in Tulsa 12-31-2010 01:50 PM

I joined my first visit but didn't get chatty for close to a year. I'm usually just a lurker on sites but this place is so friendly I just couldn't keep my mouth shut! I've been a member of Pattern Review since probably 2003 or 2004 and only have a couple hundred posts there in all the years I've been a member.

Shelbie 12-31-2010 01:56 PM

I lurked for at least a year and I'm not sure why I didn't join sooner. I finally joined when I just had to share some information on featherweights. I enjoy being inspired daily by the wonderful quilts I see and appreciate all of the good quilting tips.

redvette54 12-31-2010 02:54 PM

About 6 months.

craftyone27 12-31-2010 02:57 PM

Not sure if I joined the first day, or a day or two later. I guess you could say I jumped right in. I am a bit embarassed to say that I never did an intro post either, but I did fill out some info on my profile page. That should count too, right? I just have to say , I love this forum and have been seriously neglecting my Facebook account since I found this wonderful place!

jolo 01-01-2011 05:51 AM

I joined right away, Thought I had found my soul mates, note the plural/lol

Kathy-Pgh 01-01-2011 05:51 AM

2 years plus for me before I made a post.

carrie glover12586 01-01-2011 06:09 AM

Found it ,liked to read the comments ect. Took me about 5yrs . I feel like there are so many friends out there. Love to all and a BLESSED NEW YEAR. :P

goofygirl2u 01-01-2011 06:18 AM

I lurked for a few months before joining. Then, I wondered why I waited so long. The people on here are fantastic and very helpful. So glad I took the plunge.

Becky

IndyQuilter 01-01-2011 06:29 AM

I joined after about 2-3 months. I have noticed that most of you that have responded to the question are 'regular here'. How long does it take to get that status or is it by how much you particpate in posting or responding to other posts?

By the way this is a great site with a whole lotta helpful and caring people! I love it.

jitkaau 01-01-2011 06:49 AM

Did not lurk,as I could see that the group was welcoming, sharing and considerate and not the least hostile toward beginners who need to be encouraged. This board is a good promotion for the craft.

tomilu 01-01-2011 06:50 AM

I joined in a flash, lol.

Luv Quilts and Cats 01-01-2011 06:51 AM

I think I signed up right away. The enthusiasm for quilting and the friendliness of everyone was just too hard to resist!
