It's 9am here in Oregon and a little overcast. Perfect weather for hummingbirds. About 3 feet away one hummer is sitting on the wind chimes scratching it's head with a little foot waiting for the other hummer to come get a drink. The other hummer comes and first one chases it noisily chases it away. Comes back and sits on wind chimes and waits again. Over and over again. Love how mother nature entertains us. Especially the little foot. Priceless!

Yes, I love the hummers too. DH and I enjoy them so much we sit out on the patio about every evening to watch them fill their tummies before bedtime.

We haven't had as many this year as we usually do. It may be that they are enjoying the red flowers all around more than the feeders. I always enjoy watching them. They are amazing!
|
We've got some that come around and think that they own the feeder. It's outside my kitchen window and I have so much fun watching the turf wars. God's little miracles never fail to surprise me.

Awww, that's so darn cute!
The other night we were eating outside and a bunch of little birds came around. I thought they looked identical until I really looked closely. Nope, they all had their unique qualities- adorable! :) |
Yes I have the same problem. I love to watch them.

Our hummers used to have battles with bees over the feeder.
|
They caught my attention one evening this week. I kept watching, and realized there were five of them fighting each other away from the feeder. I have a friend who said one year she decided to put up several feeders so they wouldn't fight each other away. Didn't help at all; she said they just kept fighting each other away even with several feeders available. They are so much fun to watch.

Once I was wearing a brightly colored Hawaiian mumu, bending over a flower bed... Heard something humming behind me.. Yep.. little hummer was hovering over me.. probably thinking that was the biggest flower he'd ever seen....lol
