The poor thing flew in an open door, and couldn't find its way out. I had just picked some red roses earlier that morning from my garden and they were on my kitchen table. So I thought maybe if I put them out by the door to the porch she will fly out. So I walk out my back door into the porch with the flowers in my hand heading to the porch and the hummingbird came right to the roses and started feeding on them!!!! Right in my hand!! Wow, was this ever cool. I'm still inside the porch at this point, and I slowly walked outside, and she stayed on the rose for the longest time even though we were now outside!!!
So if a hummingbird ever gets stuck in your enclosed porch give this a try! |
That was a great idea! Quick thinking on your part!

How wonderful and so kind of you.

wow, that was cool!

I have read that you can train hummers to eat from your hand. This one did not need training apparently. That's very cool - I would love to have been in your shoes. I have a birdbath and sit there waiting to photograph different birds. Amazing how the different species behave so differently from each other.

What a great experience :D:D:D

Sweet!

That is so weird -- my husband had a hummingbird inside the garage yesterday. The bird couldn't figure out how to get back out and hubby couldn't figure out how to help him ... so he just opened both garage doors wide open and hoped for the best.

My daughter would have been in heaven!
