I had a wonderful weekend !!!!
 

I have just had the most wonderful weekend.
My 2 daughters arranged a surprise 60th birthday party. I was totally oblivious of the arrangements being made. Lots of old friend & relatives came. My Mum & 2 sisters were there which was great, Mum has the Aneurism & Dementia so I am guessing we'll not have many more of them so it was extra special. Apparently my unplanned visits to eldest daughter's house had them "putting tables up then pulling them down"
I am now chuckling at how many times they had to do that
My 3 grandaughters were wonderful keeping the secret I speak to them almost every day & they didn't make a slip up once.
My birthday cake was made with Nanny sitting on her lounge chair with overlocker set up on ironing board all the magazines & fabric scattered all around.Even had the vacuum cleaner lying nearby -- don't know what it's for though LOL
Nanny & the lounge chair are chocolate mud cake the rest are all made from icing, it was a beautiful cake.
Children can be delightful

You are one lucky lady. Girls are sooooooooo different than boys.

Sounds like your dear daughters are as creative in their way as you are in your quilting. How precious these memories will be!

Youngest granddaughter phoned me for my birthday yesterday. I said " you forgot" Her answer was "No I didn't Nanny but Mummy did."
This is the one who put the scarf over my head to lead me outside for the surprise. I had taken my shoes off so was in my socks for the night's activities Gosh it was fun !!!

What a nice surprise. I loved the description of the birthday cake. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the cake that you could post---do you?

Congratulations ... what a wonderful surprise! I am coming right behind you at 60 on the 26th of this month!

Best surprise party I ever had ... given to me on December 15th instead of the anticlimatic birthday the day after Christmas.

Although while my mom was alive we had a birthday tradition ... she'd give me "X" amount of $$ for my birthday and we'd shop the after Christmas sales and she'd help me pick out whatever I liked. I do miss her so much. She passed away on Dec 23, 2005, we made arrangements on Christmas Eve and my cousin reminded me I didn't want to have the funeral on my birthday so we delayed until Dec 27th. So I get the happy with the sad but it's all good ... I'll see her again one day!

IBQLTN I am sorry you don't have your Mum anymore.
My mum is heading for the sad end with Dementia but hopefully the aneurysm will take her first so her end is quick-- she is hoping for the same end too. My "next to me " sister is taking her back to her place after Xmas for 6 months because youngest sister "who knew all" now says take her & I don't care what you do with her. I tried to explain how Mum would behave but she said she knew what to expect .& was very capable to look after her. MMM frustrating !!!!
