I'm working on an applique quilt. I was fusing the pieces to the background and turned my iron up too high---wasn't paying attention--and put a perfect reproduction of my iron in a nice brown shade on my white background. I turned the iron off and left the room so as not to throw it at the wall.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, Thank-God it was only one block! I hope you had extra material. Hate when stuff like that happens but we've all been there.

oops

Oh how awful! I have done that -- but with some satin (I had the iron on cotton) and it melted all over the iron.

I do hope you have extra fabric.

I have scorched white shirts before and ammonia took it out. May try that. Or peroxide. Sorry this has happened.

Stitch around the burned area and call it another applique design.

ontheriver 08-09-2011 01:23 PM

Been there, but I threatened to throw mine in the river.

Maybe you can applique around the iron pattern and incorporate it into your quilt. Sorry the devil  made me say that. Only joking, but please don't shoot yourself over that little mishap.patti
