This eye washed up on shore in Pompano Beach Florida. It's the size of a softball!
Here is the story.... http://www.foxnews.com/science/2012/...ntcmp=features |
oh yikes...don't think I'd like to meet the owner of that eyeball..must be huge!
Wow! That's a big eye. I would love to know what animal it belonged to.
A little on the creepy side, lol. At first I thought it was one of those glass floats.
I'm glad I didn't find it. LOL.
Holy cow!! I didn't see that on the news.
I think I'd have bad dreams about it if I'd been the one to find that on the beach...
that is one creepy looking eyeball.
I don't know who it belongs to but I bet they would like it back. I hope with research that they discover it is from an unknown species. That would be neat!

I find it rather fascinating, makes you wonder what else is out there in the deep blue sea we know nothing about. |
Can you imagine being at the beach and the creature would be looking at you?
Whatever creature this eye belongs to. The Ladies here could easily sew him/her up an eye-patch.

I have a friend in Florida and that was found on a beach close to her. Her husband likes to walk in the serf in the evenings and she said he is having second thoughts about it now. That was after 'friend and DH' noticed the manta rays that were close to the shore. She said .. shuffle your feet when walking in the serf and it scares the 'rays' away, but what do you do to scare away an eyeball!! LOL
Yet another reason I never go out further than knee deep. When DH and I first got married, he would go way far out--like up to his neck. Bear in mind that he grew up inland, and they didn't have a beach that they could run to after work! So he's way out there, and sees a bunch of fins coming toward him. He takes off for the sand, with this bunch of "sharks" hot on his heels. Of course, they caught him and began bumping him with their noses. He walked on water, to get back to me. I was falling on the sand laughing, because he couldn't tell sharks from dolphins! I still laugh thinking about the look on his face, as I was laughing so hard tears were coming down my face. He wanted to know what I thought was so funny about his getting eaten by sharks. Oh, the olden days!

I never would have tought to pick it up LOL.
