My 8yr old daughter is doing a report on Wilma Rudolf the Olympic runner who, in 196o, became the first woman to win 3 gold medals for track & field at one Olympic Games. She was born to a family of 22 total kids. Her mom was a maid and her dad was a porter for a railroad. So they were very poor and her mom had to make the children's clothes out of flour sacks. This is where the kid thinking comes in. Heather was asking me how you make a dress out of a flour sack. "I guess you could cut two holes out of the bottom and stick your legs through" was her response! I had to laugh! So funny. So I showed her pics of flour and feed sacks so she would understand. Now she wants to work on her quilt instead of homework.

For those of you who don't know, Wilma overcame polio to run in her first Olympics at the age of 16. She won a bronze that year. Awesome story.

What a clever girl. She knew the prefect way to distract you from her homework.:) That's a hard choice....homework - quilt, humm homework - quilt. I personally choose quilting:)

Hmmmm, sounds like she'd have a jumpsuit instead of a dress to me, LOL!

P. S. What a great report she'll do, though!

Too bad "reality" shows weren't around for Wilma's family to be in.
Kids do say some of the funniest things.
