I tried a couple patterns at first but they didn't turn out right, so after several trial and errors I found a pattern that works. I use size 10 1/2 needles with two strands of worsted yarn. For women's size 9 this is what I did.
Cast on 54 Row 1: Knit across Row 2: K25, P1, increase 1 in next 2 stitches, P1, K25 Row 3: Knit across Row 4: K25, P1, inc 1, K2, inc 1, P1, K25 Row 5: Knit across Row 6: K25, P1, K1, Increase 1 in next 4 stitches, K1, P1, K25 Row 7 and all odd rows: Knit across Row 8 and all even rows: K25, P1, K10, P1, K25 Work rows 7 and 8 till you have 24 rows, 12 garter "ridges" Bind off 16 stitches, Knit across Bind off 16 stitches, K9, P1, K10, P1, K9 *knit across ** K9, P1, K10, P1, K9 Work the * and ** rows until you have a total of 25 ridges from heel to toe, K2 tog across ,cut yarn with 3 foot tail, thread large needle with yarn, thread thru stitches on knitting needle, draw tight and sew up seams, this pattern will be 8 inches, a bit higher than those pictured, I think the red and tan pair was started with 40 cast ons, good luck |
Thanks, Sis. I may just give them a try
