Local Walmart is now stocking a Sewing Dept

It has finally happened here in Spanaway, WA. Whoo Hooo! I noticed that areas were being moved around and then noticed bolts of fabric, notions and sewing machines. There was even one bolt that tempted me, nice fabric. They are not finished yet so I will visit in a couple of days to see the progress.

Ours too! The cutting table is up and the fabric is coming in slowly. The clerk said the fabric is of finer quality...that reamins to be seen. I have found very good quality and very poor quality there. I am looking forward to checking it all out. Glad your local Wally World is getting fabric as well.

Some of the fabric at Wall mart is just as good as Joans. Some is thin as paper. Just touch before you buy.

Caroline and Oma I am so happy for you. Walmart is the only fabric store in town here. I have to travel about thirty miles to a LQS. Have found some really nice fabrics at WM but as nvb50 says, feel the fabric. I liked it when they had their $1.00 racks, often found some really nice pieces there.

Today at our WalMart there was fabric for $1.00 and $2.00 per yard. It was nice fabric...

The Walmart here has always had a fabric dept. Feel the fabric before you purchase it. Some is paper thin. I brought some easter fabric that was so thin that I used it to just cover my coffee table.

The fabric department in our Walmart is being overtaken by crafts - luckily we have 3 quilt shops, a Hobby Lobby and Hancocks to choose from.

You girls are lucky. Our Wally got rid of their fabric(against volumes of protests) except for one aisle of pre-cuts and packaged lengths. Last week, they did away with most of that. Now just about 6 feet of lousy pre-cuts and junk! I am in the country and this town is the nearest for us to shop. Now we have two small quilt shops, but it's almost 100 miles to any place for discount fabric and supplies.

Those who are happy to have the fab back in their local Walmart should contact corp and let them know it is a welcome return/addition....I did.

I'm told that our Walmart will get it's fabric back in 2014 when it does it's re-model again.
