My husbands kids live near London in Essex. Thankful for Facebook that we've been able to keep all three of them in an open chat session making sure all is well. His middle daughter was caught near one situation but is safe. The other two are at their respective homes and are keeping up constantly updated.

That is some very scary stuff going on over there.

thankfully our family is OK.

yes very scary - a lot of very frustrated angry people not anything to do with the shooting last week - and overnight has spread to other cities - not a good place to be - am glad your family are safe

Sue,

I just looked at the map on the bbc news website ( http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...ts_tues464.jpg)

If it makes you feel less worried, all areas, except the central London one, are all so so areas (except maybe Bromley but then not well known with that town). I lived in London for 10 years and to be honest, all those areas highlighted on the map wouldn't be places I'd go in the evening. According to a friend of mine in London, most of the trouble is caused by known thugs who are actually preplanning the places they will cause chaos via social media such as FB and Twitter, and via mobile/cell phone.

If they stay away from areas which are considered so so (and if they have been in the UK for awhile they will know what areas they are) they should be ok :)

It's very sad that a few(ok hundreds) people can make life miserable for everyone. I hope that they stay safe and the riots end as quickly as they began.

Glad you are in touch with family there.

I have friends visiting London right now and I can't get ahold of them I am so worried that they are ok

yes it is. glad they are safe. it always surprises me that crowds of people get mad at something and then burn down stores and houses of people who had nothing to do with what upset people in the first place. just wanton distruction. very sad and wasteful.
