Looking for a Christmas Tree Skirt Pattern
 

My daughter-in-law puts a Christmas tree in all rooms they all have different themes. One of the grandsons has an airplane theme tree. When they were here a few weeks ago I showed her some airplane fabric I had and she said it would be Great for a tree skirt for the grandsons tree.

I sent her an e-mail and asked what size the tree was and she said medium I am guessing that means under 5 foot tall and she said that if I was going to make it and give it to him as a gift for next year to make the skirt a large one because he may get a new tree since they will be moving. They are in the Navy and move around a lot.
I am guessing again a large skirt would be for a tree over 5 foot tall?

Ok what I need is a tree skirt pattern that is for a Boy...meaning no ruffles...and what size would a large skirt be meaning measuring it across. I have searched for a pattern found a couple but they had ruffles or scallops.

So far I've only seen the swirly table toppers but I have seen pics of Xmas tree skirts. You could use 8 boyish fabrics and make a great skirt.

Look under toturials. angiecub showed how to make a christmas tree skirt. You could use different fabric.

Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting magazine had one in it last year that might meet your needs.

I would think the tree skirt would have to be at least 36 inches in diameter. That would make it extending 18 inches out from the base of the tree in all directions. In fact, that seems a bit small, but if there are no gifts going under the tree that might work.

I'm thinking you could use the basic idea, but simply replace the log cabins with squares of your focus fabric. Even easier, you could start with a smaller square of a solid and then do borders (as wide as needed) of airplane fabric. I'd probably consider making it reversible with a bright more generic Christmas print on back. Boys can change a lot in a couple of years, replacing their interest in planes with sports, dogs, military or whatever....

I would make it about 52" diameter if it is for a large tree.
