Yes, I know, it is a while off yet, but that is when I get my first hip replacement!! I have to have enough sick/holiday hours banked at work to be able to be off for at least 3 weeks, so that is why the delay.

I think I will try to have a few projects done to the point of hand work so I can still be able to quilt something while I am laid up. :D

Patti, that's a good idea! You are a planner!! :D

Good luck with that, I had one done in 2002 and one in 2004 and it was the best thing I have done. Make sure you do your exercises and you will be up and about in no time.

You're only planning on being off 3 weeks? I hope you're really able to go back to work by then. Good luck! Please let us know how you make out, ok?

There have been so many advancments in hip surgery in just the last couple of years!! My neighbor had hers done and was back nearly to full 'strength' in a little moe than 2 weeks!! And she is 82---and very very happy she had it done!!

Since my job is mostly sedentary, my doc figures 3 weeks should be enough. I talked with my boss about starting back by just covering over the lunch hours....about 11 to 2...I "should" be ok. My whole workplace is one level....including the entrance, so I am hopeful that all will go smoothly. DH can drop me off about 2 feet from the door!!

Well, I am looking forward to that date, too! It's my birthday!

I just had double knee replacement and was back walking with no aids in about6 weeks...so your three weeks might be about right for one hip. AND the thing that helped me most was the fact that I'd been doing a regular exercise routine for a few months before surgery...helped my balance and strength in arms and legs so recovery was really fast.

Talk to your doctor and get an idea of what exercises would help you the most and do those before surgery...
