machine knitting

Before I was a quilter, I was a machine knitter... had 5 machines at once years ago. Now I only have 2, a standard and a bulky. Since I have so many DGKs, the machine comes out at this time of year for mittens, hats and scarves. My DDs birthday was last week, so the 2 youngest 'helped' me with the knitting of a scarf in her Univ. of Minnesota colors. Here are the pics:

Scarf is extra long to keep icy winds out

2yo DGD 'helping' - her short arms barely reach

4yo DGD can reach but barely strong enough to move carriage

What cute helpers! That looks like a loooong scarf. I've seen skiens of yarn like those at the second hand store and I've wondered what they were for, now I know. This is definately the season to break out the woolies. Have you checked out the www.knittingparadise site?

thanks, Tartan. yes, I am a member there, but don't go there too often.

Wow! that looks like such fun. I inherited 2 knitting machines about 5 years ago, I wish I had the space to set them up (they're currently stored in the garage) and someone to show me how to use them! I would LOVE to be able to knit!

Well, come on over :) If there had not been a very nice group, South Florida Machine Knitters, I would not have learned much all on my own. You might check www.knittingparadise to see if there is a group near you, or a dealer that gives lessons.

Thanks! I'll check it out, however I'll have to wait until either my oldest moves out, or we get a bigger house, before I can set either one of the machines up. Sigh.
