"Made with Real Sugar"

"Made with Real Sugar" - I've noticed this labelling more and more on some pop/soda cans.

Kind of makes me laugh! Back of the old, unimproved, eh?

A strange twist, isn't it! lol!

DebraK 11-20-2011 03:25 PM

Nothing changes for me. Same reason I avoid soda to begin with ;-)

sometimes even when you buy granulated sugar, it is not cane sugar. Something else.

most likely beet suger.

Or corn syrup. I wonder if so much corn has gone to alternative fuel industry that food makers have discovered it's easier and cheaper to go back to cane sugar.

Coca Cola tastes better with real sugar. Our local distributor has a limited amount--it's Mexican. LOL, I sometimes wonder how it would taste with real coca, like the original formula.

The real sugar cola is difficult to find. Anyone know where to get it in the Portland, Oregon, area?

Over in UK incresing numbers of foods are made with glucose/fructose syrup which is much sweeter. This is BAD as you get used to an unnaturaally sweet taste on jams etc. I'm against it myself but the tide seems unstoppable.... i feel sorry for new mums with kiddies.

Check for an international/Mexican market. The groceries around here that cater to the Mexican-American population carry the Mexican real sugar coke.
