Ya'll said you would like to see more of my dolls so here they are. The birdcge doll was made for a challenge at a retreat. The topic was movies. She is bye bye birdie. Inside the cage is nothing but feathers from the escaped bird. The primitave doll was made for a challenge for an online club. The mermaid was made for a donation for the local symphony for a silent auction. She sold for $350. I never try to sell my dolls cause you never get out of them what went into them. So I prefer to gift them when they tell me it is ok.

I don't sell them because when I tell people the price I want for them they have all kind of remarks like "for a cloth doll?" or something else to deminish the worth. I put a lot of time and thought into them and I want them to be appreciated just like we feel about our quilts. I sometimes give them to people who express a real liking for them but don't ask if they have a price or to a friend who is having a bad day.

drgranny 02-02-2011 03:36 PM

Forgot to thank you for loving them. Thanks!!!

They are very beautiful. I am not surprised that you got that much for it. I can see that there are lots of little "extras", too.

I love your dolls! You really DO put alot of work and LOVE into each one of them! My mother would absolutely love the bird cage doll because she has an amazing love for birds and it's uncanny how the doll looks like my mother:) Her birthday is Friday Feb. 4th, and I wish I could find her something like this! Thank you for sharing!

Nell 02-03-2011 07:42 AM

My mother would have loved the birdcage doll, as she loved birds and dolls! "She's only a bird in a gilded cage?"

Have a SUPER day!

sik1010 02-03-2011 08:07 AM

Thank you for sharing your amazing work (or really your labor of love)!

These are so great!! I love them!! And anyone that knows what goes into making any doll would be more than willing to pay for them. I used to make dolls, not as good as yours, and I know what you mean about people not understanding. Keep up the good work!!!!!

delma_paulk 02-03-2011 10:56 AM

Just beautiful!!! Wish one of them would tell you to gift me! Thank you for sharing.

How thoughtful of you to make a giftee of your wonderful dolls. I love dolls but as true of so many, can't afford them for myself, so divert myself into making special rag dolls 12 inch, 21 inch and 24 inch (the 24 inch ones are the boy dolls) for kids with cancer or faced with serious health or emotional issues, causing problems that call for a doll that can comfort them. Good for you and God bless. Some people who don't craft can't imagine the time and effort that goes into things.

The dolls are just totally awesome. Especially the birdcage, but then living near the coast the mermaid was pretty special too. All are great. I'm 70 and will never quit loving dolls. Perhaps I shall never grow up, but that's okay by me. giggling.

Keep up the good work.
