Oh and your hydrangea is beautiful. I planted one last year but it didn't bloom. I too was afraid it wouldn't survive the winter. It does have the starts of flowers on it now. Can't wait to see the blooms. I don't even remember what color it is. I guess I'll be surprised.

Sunflower126, would a live trap work? Relocate him to a safe place he will be happy? Do you have lots of them? I am sorry you have to deal with this. Underground critters are hard to get rid of.

Charmpacksplus: Your hydrangea is beautiful.
Regards, Dorothy

That is my husband's theory. We also have an ongoing battle with chipmunks digging big holes in the yard and of course the squirrels are always trying to steal the birdseed.

Ha! Okay, besides that! I once bought a hot chili spray at my garden center that saved our apples from the neighborhood rodents. Or maybe spread cayenne pepper around -- that kept the neighbor's cats out of our flower beds.

Your corner of the world is very pretty. Good for you.
It is almost impossible to keep rabbits, squirels, moles, voles, chipmonks and everything else out of gardens, yards and containers with plants.
All God's creatures need to eat.
