Has anyone here ever been a Mystery Shopper? I've seen a few articles about it, just wondering if anyone has done it and what you thought about it......

I've never heard of it.

i've never been a mystery shopper. but, i've been mystery shopped before. i wouldn't mind being one. you get paid to give an opinion on how well someone is doing something. like say making coffee...was it made in the way and expectation of the company. and most mysery shoppers are nice and want you to do well. but, how you get in contact or involved with them...i don't know.

I never have but I hate to shop- except for fabric of course! :D

don't sign up with any company that makes you pay to become a mystery shopper - that is not how it works. The emails you get are scams.
You can find lists of legitimate mystery shopper companies online. |
There is some here on the boardwho have been.

Little pay for time spent as far as I am concerned. You really have to be good at scheduling these things. 10 buck plus food for a bar/restaurant survey, 7 bucks for a Wal-Mart survey, etc. The great deals are the out of the way places that they have problems getting people to sign up for. Then you can get 30-40 dollar bonuses...... The paperwork is usually easy and has to be done in a certain way and time frame.

I signed up with a mystery shopping company years ago. What a pain. The only mystery shops they had was McDonalds. You had to go during specific times of the day and order specific foods. You also had to do both inside and drive-thru for each time of day.

beware, there have been many scams of this. If you have to use your own money beforehand you may never get paid. Check on line and you'll see this

I wouldn't make a good one I do most of my shopping on line

I have been a mystery shopper and it was fun. I did hardware stores and general merchandise storesfor home products. I was told what to buy and what sort of general atmosphere they were looking for.
It was an eye-opener to look with a "critical" eye and rate my treatment by various sales people. I don't remember if I was paid very much besides the merchandise and gas money -- but it was fun. -- Mim |
I have been mystery shopped many times at work. It helps keep retail workers on their toes in giving the correct information to the customers. It is our job to inform the customers correctly of the product we sell. Several co-workers did not feel that way but I take my job seriously and try to do my best at all times, not just when I think I'm being mystery shopped.
