This is a pretty big group, so I thought I'd ask here. Has anybody heard about or have knowledge of using Namenda with kids on the Autism Sprectrum? It's developed to treat Alzheimers, but a local psychiatrist has many patients who are using it and having good results. I'd like to hear what others think.

Can't be of much help, but your post interested me enough to do a little online research. Have a friend whose dd is ASD. An interesting thread I found on the subject of Namenda is here:

Wonderful article!!! Thanks for doing some research, I hadn't seen that one yet. My 12 yo ds has an appt with his regular psychiatrist tomorrow. I can't wait to see what he thinks about the idea and if he'll consider prescribing it. Problem now is insurance. Medicaid doesn't cover it because it's not FDA approved to treat autism. ::sigh::
