Kindle is great for reading books except it needs recharging all the time.
Prefer my computer big screen for everything else. I dont have to be online all the time and only check out the web once a day. Not a phone addict either. In fact I hate talking on the phone. |
I have the Kindle PaperWhite. It's smaller than my original Kindle and it has lighting so I don't have to be by a lamp and there is no glare. Fabulous!

For reading without glare, the kindle, kindle paper white or kindle keyboard is best because it has the e-ink technology that eliminates glare in bright light. The e-ink technology is not compatible with the " tablet" technology used in the kindle fire. You can still read with the kindle fire, but will get glare in bright light and can be more tiring on the eyes during a long reading session.
Since you want to read, do email, and watch videos, you might be happier with the kindle fire or an iPad. The tablets do a better job with Internet activities such as email and video. If money is not a problem, I would go for a basic kindle (about $80) for reading and a fire or other tablet for the email and videos. Otherwise, it is a trade off between a better reading experience or a better email/ video experience. My info came from a kindle rep. |

I have a Galaxy Tablet 11 that has a 7" screen that I take everywhere. It fits in my purse and is very light. Less than $200.00

If you want to be able to watch your Craftsy classes, the Kindle "readers" will not work. You would need a color device such as the Kindle fire, or a different type of color tablet, such as the iPad, iPad mini, etc.
I use my Pandigital 8" tablet to watch Craftsy videos. I can also watch them on my iPod, but they are oh-so-teeny-tiny on that little screen, it's hardly worth it!! |
My daughter gave me a Ipad when my husband was in the hospital. We downloaded a Kindle program on it and LOVE it .. Not sure if that would fit your needs or not, I like it because you can get on the internet and watch the craftsy classes while sitting.
While he was sleeping I was able to access alot of the information on what he was being treated for, what to expect etc.. so it helped to ease the anxiety of the unknown. |
I like my Kindle keyboard except it has no backlight. So if you don't have a bright light better get one with backlighting. My kindle I love it.

I have the kindle fire 8.9 inch, and I love it. I can do just about anything I want to with it, and the price was right
