My 11 year old HP finally gave up and I went shopping for a new one. Ended up with another HP and love that I can do photos, scan, fax, etc. with it. It's an 8600 and also has the individual ink cartridges. I like the fact that you can buy one or all, and regular or large volume cartridges.

HP Deskjet F 4480. Printer, scanner, copier all in one. Not expensive and soooo easy to use. Sizes are absolutely true.

I am using HP printer and facing no problems. The HP, Canon, Epson are some best quality printers. You can go with any. Dust will definitely cause problem in printing. You need to clean it regularly. The cartridge should also be cleaned properly during refilling.
