And to think it was only 10 years ago that I bought my first computer and went online LMBO the one before that was so basic, the kids only used it for school work LOL
Cell phones, and now we are up to these!!! Amazing :D:D:D

That is now on my birthday wish list!

I'm a pc but that looks pretty cool. Wonder how much they will cost? Pretty much the only reason I haven't had an apple is they always cost more than I have to spend.

Chele 01-28-2010 12:58 PM

I think it's cool too, but how come all my Apple stock dropped after this announcement? My first computer was an Apple. I think it cost as much as my first car! We've come a long way, baby!

I'm PC but my kids are MAC and I am certainly Mac-envious! Wish I hadn't bought my netbook a few weeks ago!

cutebuns 01-28-2010 01:04 PM

They have it advertised at 499.00

cutebuns 01-28-2010 01:06 PM

We run both in the house, the kids all use Mac at school, they tend to run a bit more, but I have had way less issues with the mac, the only reason I have a microsoft windows is that my embroidery and dear jane software only run on windows.

When the Ipad info leaked, people hoped it was a ruse for something cool. It's being referred to as a "giant Ipod." In a world where smaller is better, and pre-existing is outdated, giant Ipod is an insult. And, the net is also making plenty of sanitary napkin jokes. What do you expect from a world where Nintendo's Wi is ripe for joshing as well. Ipad is a disappointment due to elevated expectations.

to all your computer savvy people out there..i have a question..we have a windows computer that we are having problems with. My question is we have been thinking of getting a Mac..what are the pros and cons? we have always had windows so would it be difficult to learn to use the Mac? Would there be problems say if I am sending an email from a Mac to a Windows computer?

BellaBoo 01-28-2010 03:32 PM

I have an IPod Touch and it's neat but too small to be very useful for online use or reading a book. I would buy the IPad. I'd have the Kindle, Ipod, ITouch, and laptop all in one. Computer snobs don't just don't get the appeal this has for non geeks.

Chele 01-28-2010 03:34 PM

Boy, I've loved my Macs. Very easy transition using a Mac (Microsoft copied the Mac operating system, so it should look very familiar!) and Macs are not prone to viruses or other glitches that make a Windows computer run so slooooooowwww. I have both, but I'd much rather be on my Mac. The con is that they are costly and some software won't run on the Mac's operating system. If you have an Apple store nearby, stop in and get to know a Mac before you decide.

I WANT ONE!!!

Chasing Hawk 01-28-2010 03:57 PM

I can barely use my Ipod Touch.

littlehud 01-28-2010 05:17 PM

I'll stick with the computer I have for a while longer.

Ninnie 01-28-2010 05:41 PM

NOt worth the money to me, think of all the material I could buy!! LOL At least not until it has been out for awhile.

cutebuns 01-28-2010 06:15 PM

You can download several mac programs, like instead of explorer to use the web I use Safari, it is a free download and a better browser, the big difference is that most of the programs for quilting and embroidery are for windows only, but you can run the second operating system on the Mac, so you can actually run windows at the same time on the Mac.

wow, awesome you will need to make a carrying case for it

When my computer started giving me tons of problems last year, and was looking to buy a new one, I researched which company to go with and decided on an iMac. I would NEVER go back to PC again. I love my iMAc!!!!!

I have only been using a computer for almost 5 yrs and found it pretty easy to use the Mac. There is a little bit of a learning curve but only because you have to learn the alternate name for the things that you are already familiar with (ex. Explorer is called Safari, etc). There are a lot of good Mac's for Dummies type of book out there to help with the process.

There is a program on the Mac that allows the use of Windows programs. I haven't used it yet but I believe it's called the Bridge.

If you are interested in seeing how the iPad works, here is the video that Apple sent to me in an email:
