New cat door
 

My son has a air conditioner window unit in his window because he is hot natured. One of our cats has become a diva compared to the other two cats. She has started making noises outside the air conditioner in his room between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m. He hears scratching, meowing or whatever she can do to get him to let her in. He will let her in just to get some sleep. She will usually stay in from those hours until about 5:30 p.m. when she goes out for the evening. The other morning, she was scratching and he was hitting the air conditioner with his hand to get her to stop because he didn't want to get up to let her in. All of a sudden, he felt a cat on his face. She had opened the side panel between the air conditioner and the window frame to let herself in. This afternoon we returned home to find that the panel was open again. We could not remember if we left her in or out when we left the house. She was in when we got home. I laughing joked that we were going to have to have some kind of a "Missy" in and out flag for when we leave the house. Heaven help us if the other two learn this trick. Actually, we are going to have to figured out something to keep her from moving the panel. She is definitely a diva furbaby.

ROL! Cats are ingenius! We have a little doggy door for our cats but they have to come in at night. We left for a 3 day jaunt to my folks' and when we got home the cats were out! But we had locked them in!!! Discovered after that happening a 2nd time that one of them could open the doggy door ONE way but they couldn't get back in. The last time there was no evidence of them eating or using the litter box --- so we figured they'd gotten out the first day. Unfortunately for the, it had SNOWED while we were gone. DH has fixed so they can't get out, but they won't go out in the mornings until they're SURE that door is unlocked now!!! LOL

We don't have to worry about our cats being outside. They are inside only cats. We feel that's the safe thing to do. They are rescue or pound cats. So they were to some degree outside cats before they found a home with us and have adjusted well to the inside life. Although one cat still tries to escape and manages to run out the back door very rarely, but then he always stops and stolls slowly allowing us to catch him within a few feet of the door. I think it's a fun game he plays now.

Yep, my cats are strictly indoor, and very content to be so, too many risks being outdoors.

My cat goes out some during the day. Never in the evenings. He has discovered that the back livingroom screen will rattle if he taps on it to get in.
My sister was babysitting her daughters cat last year. Her cat never goes out and is very shy so my sister pretty much never saw it while babysitting. One day when she pulled up the cat was sitting in the driveway so she took it in the house. WHen my niece got home 5 days later the neighbor was frantically searching for her cat. My niece discovered that her cat was almost an identical twin to the neighbors when she found out there were 2 cats in her house.

Cute, cute stories!! I have 5 cats & they all but 1 come & go as they please. The pet door is wonderful....
