ewww... that octopus looks slimy to handle

Interesting! Would be interesting to make a fish tank with the creatures in it.

Woah..wait..this is made using REAL fish and octopus as your "stamps"!?!

Never seen this before...how wild!!

As a vegetarian....nope, not for me. I'm a wuss and wouldn't be able to handle touching the dead critters. But very interesting, and the results do look cool!

Maybe it'd work with a plastic fish & octopus, THEN I could do it! LOL

Very soft and slimy. Have you been to Sea World and petted the Manta Rays? It feels just like that. When I do the Gyotaku, sounds silly, but I thank them and bless them, handle them with respect. Just like the Indians do after a hunt.

LOL! I love the surprise in your letter!! You can do a Gyotaku Google search. Fish Printing has been around forever! You will never get the nuances of the real versus plastic. Hey I do 'veggie' stamping too!!! LOL!!

Check www.dickblick.com for the rubbery versions of different aquatic species used for this....I have played with gyotaku but usually from the rubber fish, not real ones. And if you want a little history lesson, just Google gyotaku....
