Patti25314 10-12-2012 05:42 PM

I've wondered how some people get any sewing done when they seem to just be posting - lol.

Some of these Lovely Ladies have their computers in their sewing rooms. I believe my husband calls it "multi-tasking"..........LOL

FYI.....

My sewing room is across the house from where my computer is. :)

Jingle 10-12-2012 06:40 PM

I'm on a lot during the day, at work when I don't have work to do. I work ffor my Husband. I sew in the evenings on the weekends while doing housework and laundry, etc.

I just finished my 13th quilt for this year. Not too shabby I would say.

Jan in VA 10-12-2012 07:34 PM

My 87 year old mother who has always harped on me (67!) for being on the computer saves me lately by coming over to sew with me. We've actually gotten a lot done because I dare to only quickly check email while she's here. Once a mom, always a mom, you know. Once her kid, always her kid.

luvTooQuilt 10-12-2012 07:35 PM

Tartan 10-12-2012 08:38 PM

Good luck with that!

luvstoquilt 10-13-2012 07:01 AM

I set the timer for 45 minutes...that is it!

lklos303 10-13-2012 07:12 AM

I just love it.

MimiBug123 10-13-2012 09:38 AM

I wonder about that, too! I really need a 12 step program for QB, but the problem with that is I don't want to stop! Real addict, I guess!

Imakequilts 10-13-2012 10:02 AM

I live alone and get tired of talking to myself. Reading all these messages every day is like having someone to exchange ideas, suggestions etc or just to talk with.

I am so with you on this. I've lived alone for 4 yrs. now since losing my husb. of 50 yrs. & I consider the QB my "social life". That sounds pathetic even to me but I live in a rather isolated area so don't know anybody around here anymore. Between my laptop & the TV I do manage to get to my sewing mach. Ok so I have a TV in my sewing rm.
I'm going crazy though since my sewing stuff is packed in the car ready to head south to Ariz. tom. Lots of people around & a bunch of quilters. I have to be careful about sharing too much of what I learn on the QB since they're pretty self involved & don't want to hear others' ideas. They're loss.

nannyrick 10-13-2012 11:06 AM

Mine is in my sewing room and sometime I wish it wasn't. I,m hooked on the site and if I spent
half the time sewing as reading, I would be way ahead of what I want to make. But then I wouldn't
be learning as much as I do. (what to do?)

gramquilter2 10-13-2012 12:15 PM

LOL, I am thinking the same thing. I have lots of things to make for Christmas gifts but don't seem to have time once I get on the quilting board!

My feelings axactly!!! ha ha ha

kitsykeel 10-13-2012 07:22 PM

I am right there with all of you QB addicts. I find it so relaxing in the evenings to read as many threads and posts as I can.

Dolphyngyrl 10-13-2012 08:47 PM

I try to but my 3yrs old wants to be at the machine so if she's here and awake I don't which is pretty much most of the time

stchenfool 10-14-2012 04:48 AM

Ya I agree - I get so many ideas and information that it's hard to stop but then again we gotta do the things we love too - sew, quilt, ya, ya, ya!

Not just posting....LOOKING and posting. Have to get ideas to get inspired enough to dash off to the sewing room, saying to self, "I can do that".

carolaug 10-14-2012 06:07 AM

The computer is next to the sewing machine. ; )

uniquedesigner 10-14-2012 11:28 AM

I do too spend to much time on here.

Caswews 10-14-2012 11:29 AM

LOL let us know if you manage to do so !LOL

Nelco 10-14-2012 04:20 PM

Guess the only way I will get any sewing done will be at my weekend retreat the end of the month. no computer there. :)

quiltapillow 10-15-2012 06:53 AM

WOW; I really do like this place. It is alot of fun but I won't get my quilts done for Christmas If I don't get off. I only get here maybe 2 or 3 times a week and then try to read all the post. Even my DH like to read with me; we both learn alot also. Later Girlfriends.

I may need the 12 step program to get off the board also. I usually wake up at 8 and surf until my husband wakes up as not to wake him. When I read on the board, I also like to go the sites and blogs listed within the posts. So this morning, the youtube with 5 minute blocks comes up....TROUBLE. I take my iPad to the sewing room and watch the video again, pause as needed. No measurements were given in video as she is trying to sell her book....no problem, I'll just cut some rectangles and figure it out. After THREE HOURS, I will post my success story that will go into the UFO pile or (painter) taped on the wall.

Picture 1 four blocks come together to make one ( not quite square but easy to fix )
Picture 2 cut one part off, it was too short, sew it back on ( not a mistake if I don't tell :) )
Picture 3 after yellow fabric sewn down like I had done with Mexican Star quilt ( in UFO pile)

Now I'm too tired to work on my embroidery project ;0

And now that I learned from the QB TODAY to post pictures from iPad.....the trimmings of the 5 minute block can be the border or its own individual UFO ;)

To Postal packin' mama and Gabby Abby - I DID actually finish a wall hanging that I was making as a commission. and I DID pick out fabric for a new Bow Tucks for myself.........but the room is still a mess. So today, 10/17 I'm headed back in there. Wish me luck!
