Had some pretty bad storms come through here this morning lots of rain, thunder, and lightning! woke up around 5 o'clock just from the thunder and around 6 I heard my husband get up and start to get dressed... which I thought was weird because he didn't work until later that morning. Then I heard him go outside (we live in an apartment complex) and start his truck. So then I got up, looked outside and the parking lot was completely flooded!
I had my husband move my car because the water was almost over the tires! Everything is dry now...besides the inside of my car. I definitely know what they mean by a flash flood now! Now we get to look forward to the HOT weather we will have all weekend and week in the upper 90s with the humidity it will feel closer to 110. Ah...gotta love Minnesota! My car is the 3rd one in! WOWZA! From an adjacent lake? Or is the parking lot just concave?

How do I know? I did it once. Thought I had enough clearance to go the last 50 feet home to my driveway. The car died, my husband, son and I pushed it the rest of the way home. DH did an immediate drain of all fluids in the engine - yes, there was water in the oil - and replaced them with "fresh" fluids. That saved the engine. DH said it could have gone either way, that we got very lucky. |
Wish you could send some rain my way.

In my area flash flooding is common. Also, more people are killed by flash flooding than any weather condition! Beware of wading thru those waters.
|
I am so happy to hear that you didn't suffer any damages!
That is a LOT of water :( |
It is great that your vehicles didn't suffer any damage. Now you know you don't want to park there if it is raining, I guess.
Glad you were safe. |
I'm glad your car started. Take care and stay safe!

I'm north of the cities, didn't get that much rain. WOW!

When Norfolk flood just before Thanksgiving, 2 years ago. My son's Dakota truck drown. So he replace it with a new Silverato with the biggest tires he could find. To me they look like something that should be on a semi and added 11 inches of lift. Now I need a ladder to get in the truck. I told him now with those tires he will probably float into the bay if he can not get above a flood with all that lift.
The Navy guys always has a better Idea. |
Wow so happy to here you and hubby are ok and that your cars are not damaged completely! I guess we were lucky up here in Lindstrom, (Chisago county) We did get about an inch but not that much! My youngests Son told me him and his girlfriend had to get off of 694 and take another route. And more localized flooding suppose to be upon us again later today!

My sister in Little Canada had 6 inches of rain in the 24 hour period; Fri am to Sat pm...

Check and see if there is a platic lining between the carpet and the padding. I got mine soaked one time and had the worst mildew til I fould out about the plastic keeping the padding from getting any air.
