A while ago, I purchased a couple of pairs of naturalizer shoes (Leather) and after about a half hour, they really hurt my feet. My friend took me to her house and took away my shoes, boiled some water, put my shoes into the boiled water, left in the boiling water for a minute, took them out of the water, and let them cool down somewhat, and told me to put them on while they were still pretty warm - I had nylons on, we again when out shopping, my feet were feeling a little soggy, but you know after while my feet and the shoes dried out, and they are now the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. She told me to only do this with leather.

She told me she has done this to many people and had terrific results - the Gyro ladies love her for sharing that information with them....

Ok now back to quilting......

How interesting....did your jaw drop when she put your brand new shoes in the boiling water? Mine would have. :)

I think mine would have too! But it makes sense in the long run. Think about just how long it takes to break in a new pair of shoes by wearing them. I don't have time for sore feet, and don't particularly like being uncomfortable when I'm shopping.

I wear diabetic shoes. When I got my last pair, I was told to wear them for 15 minutes the first day and take them off. The second day wear them for 30 minutes and take them off. The third day wear them for 45 minutes and take them off. The fourth day wear them for 1 hour and then take them off. The fifth day wear them as long as I wanted to.
It was the easiest thing to break in the new shoes. And its some good advice and I didn't get any blisters on the backs of my heels.

I would have probably fainted or asked for a glass of vino....

Amazing all those tips that work that we never would have thought of ourselves.

The slow break in sounds like a winner as well; however, the boiling water certainly sounds more exotic. What a way to entertain/shock friends after buying new shoes! Thanks for both processes.

When I was a kid, I lived with my grandparents. We always had horses. Anytime we got a new pair of cowboy boots, they went into the horse water and you wore them the rest of the day. Those boots fit like a glove.
