I just got an e-mail from my new real estate agent. I got an offer on my house. I don't know how much it will be for or if we will accept it, but at least there is an offer. To make a long story short, I listed my house in November with a real estate agent who did nothing, not even bring potential buyers. After six months he begged me to sign another contract with him and when I refused he got really mad. I signed with another agent and in one week we already have an offer.

DH couldn't keep the job he had in CA because he was alone and got sick with depresion, in part because the house wasn't selling and we couldn't move back with him. I don't blame the agent for not selling the house, because it is a bad market, but I blame him for not trying to sell.

I will let you know what happens tonight when we get the offer.

That's great that you have an offer, but be prepared that it will probably not be what you're expecting. We had our house on the market, cleaned of clutter, staged, etc., not overpriced but still wasn't able to sell it. We ended up doing a trade without someone in the area we wanted to move to. The house is nothing compared to our house, but it's livable and in 2-4 years we'll either build a home or put a modular home, but we do now have 80 acres instead of 4 1/2, which was worth it to us. I do hope you get what you want. Good luck.

I don't know what to do with the 2.26 acres I have now, I can't picture 80!! I know it is my first offer and don't want to keep my hopes up too high, but for now, an offer in a week is better than nothing in six months.

Good Luck on your offer!! Usually, if the broker/salesman thinks the offer is not in line, they will just call you on the phone and tell you. In fact, I'd probably call and ask exactly how much the offer was. That gives you a little extra time to think about it....

Praying that you get what you need!
Also praying that your husband is much better now that you are together.

Oh, I hope the offer is close to what you were wanting to get. It sounds like you finally got the right Realtor for you.

The offer was of course, under what we expected so we gave them another offer and the agent feels will be accepted. I will find out later.

DH is doing better. still depressed, but now that things are looking better I feel he will recover.

Thanks for the good thoughts.

I hope they accept your counter offer. If so, where do you plan to move to, if you don't mind me asking?

So glad to hear that things are on the up and up for you and your family.

We plan to stay in the same town renting for a while. DH has an application with social security and if it gets approved we will relax for a while, until he is ready to apply for a job again and go on with our lives. With our equity we will become debt free and that will help ease his anxiety. I am sure in a few years we will be ready to own again, but the phrase debt free sounds very good for now. The company I work for is being sold and if our site ends up closing, I will be unemployed, but we are free to go anywhere we want. That will not happen for a while. I have no idea where I will be in 2 years and love it. I like it here in Plattsburgh, but a warm place sounds good too.

Good news on your house!!! Mine is on the market too - still waiting for the right buyer!!!

Hope hubby is doing better daily.

Mplsgirl 05-11-2009 07:11 PM

I wish luck to both of you!!

You could always come to the PNW...
2 hours to mountains, 2 hours to beach, 3 hours to BC
2hour flight to LasVegas and SF....
Mild weather...low cost housing (as long as it isn't in Seattle)...

My counter offer was accepted and we are all happy!!!

We are now waiting for the results of the home inspection later this week and it is a deal.

I am so upset to sell my house, but at the same time thankful because I am perfectly capable of making my home anywhere I am with my family. No more cutting grass, drying the basement, unclogging gutters in the middle of the night or cleaning for a showing!! We can finally relax.

Congratulations on the offer. It is such a tough market, so if you are happy, then it was worth it. Good luck on your next leg of the journey and I hope your honey makes it through his depression.

Congrats on the offer!!! It's a crazy time and the waiting is insane!! You want the information NOW and you have to wait longer than you want!

I just went through all that myself back in March. I am now in my home and getting it more and more cozy with each passing day. I still have a ton of boxes to unpack and we won't talk about the sewing room!! That's a whole big separate can of worms right there!!! Upstairs (main living area) is looking great!

You are getting there!!!

Cheers
