Just got a phone call from DS and he and Fiance' are planning to get married next summer May 21st! They live in Ohio and will be married here on the beach!! (Just family) Other son is getting married June 25th! (Big Bash) How can they do this to me? That means the planning for most things will take place by phone and guess who get's to be in charge of the May wedding!! Not sure if I am excited or scared! The May wedding is long overdue they have been engaged 5 years together for 8. I am going to need to really have to get organized for all of this!!

Ok folks, Any neat ideas for a beachy wedding ceremony? Sandpails and flowers? Throw shells at them? LOL

We just helped our niece with a beach wedding in CA and we all wore Hawaiian shirts and leis. She was lovely in a long gown but he wore a very tailored white shirt with embroidery and chino pants. Her white flippy flops were decorated with flowers and lace.

Many others will have more ideas!

I agree, take a deep breath. What will the weather be like there in late May? Think about what may be close by (restraunts, etc) and whether you could book for after wedding festivites. Oh, there is so much to consider. Always have a Plan B. My daughter planned to be married in a large park with a pavillion but the guest would have to sit in chairs on the grass. The night before, we went to the venue and it had rained all day and mosquitos were THICK and the ground was water logged. Thank goodnes she had a plan B and it was moved to her church's youthcenter with a large room, stage, kitchen and all the tables and chairs. It worked out perfectly. She rented flowers (large bouquets for decoration, had an archway they stood under on the stage and steps were built to lead up to the stage. It really was beautiful and we did it all ourselves.

Weather is iffy in May but should be nice by then, We are not having a reception maybe a keg of beer and a beach party, They will have a reception in Ohio for Family that lives south. I have an arbor we can take and decorate and I will make the flowers for everyone. I will probably make a cake as I have all the stuff and we will just have beer and cake- Eww yuck!

Release Seagulls instead of doves? LOL
Take a deep breath and start making lists  keep them in a notebook.
A plan B for that time of year is a wonderful suggestion, too :D

Suggested throwing Birdseed, that would bring in the seagulls!! I think that is a no go!

My DD got married in a gazebo a year ago - after the reception (with ants on the wedding cake) when they left, we all lit sparklers to light their way. Very beautiful pictures of this in the dark.

A tent with sides just as in case sort of thing if not just for wind management, but rain! Wood for a bon fire would be nice touch also. If its still a little cool, could add some warmth.

Your arbor with flowing sheer material with their colors would be beautiful.
