6 year old boy in runaway helium balloon!

Mousie 10-15-2009 11:41 AM

where is the child?????
His sister or brother said he fell out.

well, they are saying it is believed that he was never in it, and about 20 ppl on the ground are searching the area around his home, for him.
We haven't heard that they have spoken to any of the family so far.
The balloon traveled for over an hour, before coming down in a field, where they immediately looked inside,...no child, and then let the helium out.
His dad is a retired meteorologist, and this balloon is homemade. I hope they find him safe, very soon. He is six years old.

BlueChicken 10-15-2009 12:23 PM

It's made the news here too..... same as above, they say the balloon has landed and he's not inside.

Fingers crossed he's just hiding somewhere afraid he's going to be in trouble.

Let's hope that is what happened.

QuiltMania 10-15-2009 02:13 PM

He's been found alive!!!

marsye 10-15-2009 02:17 PM

In the attic over the garage!

nativetexan 10-15-2009 02:26 PM

Yep, he and his brother (who knew he wasn't in the balloon) are both in trouble. But i bet the Dad is a bit more careful in the future. at least i hope so. Men never think of the dangers of anything.

Barb M 10-15-2009 04:21 PM

Yep, he was found! Hiding in a box in the garage cus he was scared. Just saw the follow-up on the news. The father is hugging him and crying...whew! So glad everything is fine

amma 10-15-2009 05:21 PM

Thank goodness this story had a happy ending!!! I bet dad keeps a closer eye on his balloon next time!!

littlehud 10-15-2009 05:25 PM

Thank goodness he is OK.What a little stinker....hiding out in the attic. After dad gets done hugging and kissing him, bet he is in trouble.

Shemjo 10-15-2009 07:09 PM

He was hiding because his dad yelled at him! Kids! You have to really be on top of everything, and WATCH THEM! So glad this has a happy ending so far. Where was Mom?

tlrnhi 10-15-2009 09:26 PM

The little boy was hiding in the attic. He says he was hiding there because of the show.
I'm thinking it was a publicity stunt that the dad conjured up.
That family was on Wife Swap and silly me, YES, I watched that episode and the guy is a lunatic! He was just off the wall "acting" for the cameras.
A child doesn't say something like that if he wasn't told why to do something. A child will say they are hiding because they are mad at mom and dad or they did something wrong and knew they would get into trouble. A small child is not going to say they did something for the show. That's what you hear him say.....I did it because of the show.

Up North 10-16-2009 02:41 AM

I heard that this morning too. When asked why he didn't answer when they called him he said something about doing it for the show. Guess now instead of him being in trouble his Daddy is gonna be in BIG trouble.

Knot Sew 10-16-2009 03:36 AM

Mom and Dad have been on reality TV wife swap ,,,,The kids have several u-tube videos..I think thet taped this

If this is a big hoax the parents should have to pay for the personel they abused

Leave it to the little kids to pop out with the truth :D

tlrnhi 10-16-2009 03:39 AM

EXACTLY!!!

BellaBoo 10-16-2009 09:11 AM

I'm glad the boy is safe! CNN and MSNBC channels are blocked on my tvs.

Cathe 10-16-2009 10:05 AM

I agree. They should be made to pay for the costs of the search and rescue efforts (or at least the taxpayer-funded portion).

BellaBoo 10-16-2009 11:18 AM

The little boy's comment about doing it for the show, the tv crew asked him to show how he got in the rafters and when asked by his dad why he was up there he said doing it for the show meaning the tv crew. CNN not reporting that?

Cathe 10-18-2009 06:41 AM

The mainstream media likes to present sensational, dramatic shows. That's what keeps people watching.

It was a publicity stunt/fraud. The sheriff is filing charges.

jbsstrawberry 10-19-2009 11:25 AM

They said on the news this morning that they are going to file charges against the father. The least of which is fraudulant reporting of an accident or something to that effect.

auntiehenno 10-22-2009 12:18 PM

And believe me he is going to pay! Disfunctional family. Believe he exercised his autority on everyone in house. He has been arrested. I live in Littleon, CO, so I was glued to TV.

amandasgramma 10-22-2009 12:37 PM

Any child that hides like that because dad "yelled" has problems...someone needs to do some checking on them! And I agree, they should pay for the costs! I don't know if it was a set-up or not, BUT I DO know he was negligent if it wasn't a fraud! Mom has the only rope holding it and they don't know where those kids are??????????????
