It fell out of a tree at my moms house. The kids found it and we set up a cage for it and they are calling it Luna. Luna is a Luna moth. They keep the green color as they become moths. They eat leaves off of birch trees(which it fell out of). My daughter did some research on it before i agreed to keep it. So it is in a 10 gallon tank and the kids are going to keep track of it and watch it cocoon and turn into a moth. They are one of the largest moths here. Can get up to 4 and a half inches across. :)
Luna right before we got it's tank ready. :) |
forgot to mention that Luna will be set free after it becomes a moth. :)

Cool!!! The metamorphosis thing is a true miracle of God!! So neat that you are letting the kids see it happen.

We would find these on the side of the bard at our old house in North Carolina. They are beautiful and HUGE.
