I agree with the suggestion to visit your vet. Many years ago, I had a wonderful cat who seemed to become ravenous - he'd eat everything as soon as he could get it in his mouth. He also tended to lay around more. I took him to the vet and asked if he was diabetic. The vet asked me why in the world I thought my cat was diabetic (after all, I'm not a medical person) and I told him I thought my cat was diabetic because he was acting just like my husband, and my husband was diabetic. The vet laughed at me, but guess what? My cat was diabetic. I learned to give him insulin every day.

Take her to the vet. I can believe that they do add something to the food, but I find it hard to believe that all pet foods have this additive in them. Vet is your best bet. Maybe hormonal or even diabetes.

Sometimes, we as professionals get a little cocky :(. I always tell my baby moms, trust your instincts. If it is not seeming "right" call. The other is if you are observing something you recognize, call it in. Don't take a chance that you might be wrong. If you are, so what? Good call on your part by using your powers of observation and deduction. c

speaking of human foods read labels if it has monsodium glutamate in it that is a flavor inhancer also causes lots of health problems not sure as I have no pets but maybe they have added it to pet food

poor doggie;. I took meds a couple of times that made me feel terribly hungry. not a great feeling. if changing foods doesn't work, of course take her to the Vet. good luck (())

I have heard about an appetite stimulant being added also, so I started researching pet foods and found some that do not have grains, or extra additives. Blue Wilderness, and Canyon River are both grain free and also free of crude protein (whatever that is). Our pets do very well on this. I am using the Blue Wilderness at present as the supplier for Canyon River "Taste of the Wild" left the area.

You need to take your beloved pet to the vet!! There could be numerous problems that is causing this issue. Your vet will probably recommend getting some blood work done which can be very beneficial diagnostic tool. You will need to make sure you take a fresh (less than 24 hours old) stool sample. There are soooo many issues with dog foods and treats right now, especially the ones that are being produced in China (even though the bag doesn't say "Made in China") Your baby really needs to be checked out by a professional.

As for the appetite stimulant being added to store brand foods, that probably is hog wash. There are recommendations on every bag as to how much your animal should be fed daily. Sometimes the portions are bigger because the food is of poor quality and/or has so many fillers in it. The dietary guidelines are set by the AVMA (American Veterinary Medicine Association) and sometimes it will take 1/2 cup of a quality food to get the daily requirements but will take 1 cup to get the same daily requirements in a lesser quality food.

I agree with all of the above suggestions about seeing a vet and also maybe she is bored if she checks out healthy. I know I like to eat if I am bored!!

Good to know. I have American bulldog puppy's and feeding them purina puppy chow. But I do always wonder with so many dog food brands out there which is best.
