I was just looking at a post and across the top was a stupid political ad. They are EVERYWHERE! It is no wonder so many people say, "Forget you!" by the time they have to vote because they are fed up with the bombardment of solicitations for their vote.

Not ONE ad has made any difference in how I voted.

None here but I use Mozilla Firefox

MistyMarie 10-27-2010 06:45 PM

Really? I think I might be switching. I am sick of them. I didn't know Mozilla blocks them.

burnsk 10-27-2010 06:47 PM

Not only the ads but the constant 'canned' messages that come to the phone. They got smart - if it's a recorded message then you can't tell the caller to remove you from their call list. Arggghhhhhh.

Sadiemae 10-27-2010 06:49 PM

I think if there are political ads you are supposed to pm admin and tell them exactly what the ad is.

redkimba 10-27-2010 06:51 PM

I use Mozilla Firefox, but I still see a couple here. Just report it to Admin.

There's a previous thread about this.

bearisgray 10-27-2010 06:52 PM

I made a copy of the page, and then sent it to Admin.

He will try to block the ones he knows about.

MistyMarie 10-27-2010 06:55 PM

I think they are the ones that are automatically generated. No member posts them. The one I saw tonight was for a local race, so I know they have to be using my information to know what ads to place.

I agree with the phone ones! Annoying. My husband had to fax some papers and was interrupted three times because of those political calls.

On a slightly different note... I am getting to where I don't want to create new threads anymore because I don't have time to read all the threads and in all honesty, don't mean to post something someone else has posted already. I apologize for having done so.

It's okay if you do - many topics have been run many many times. It's new to the person asking - sort of like the first time one has a baby - it's been done before - but it's a new experience to the person asking.

I've gotten so my "auto" generated voice messages left on my machine. I don't answer any more. Not until the elections are over. Grrrrrrrrr

Jodie02b 10-27-2010 07:44 PM

We had a whole thread about this a few weeks ago, but it's not as bad now as it was then.

Matilda 10-27-2010 08:02 PM

I use Mozilla Foxfire too. I haven't seen the ad. I am glad

MissTreated 10-27-2010 08:23 PM

I'm using explorer and haven't seen any ads.

crawford1219 10-27-2010 08:31 PM

I don't see any either. It is that time of year though-they'll be gone soon :)

MissTreated 10-27-2010 11:33 PM

Oops! Spoke too soon! Lisa Murkowski just showed up! Drat!

SuziC 10-28-2010 01:54 AM

I can't wait till the election is OVER. I am so sick of all the BS and mud slinging. Then after the election they all made a big deal about "working together" All politicians need to go back to pre-school and learn how to be nice and get along!!!!

noveltyjunkie 10-28-2010 02:55 AM

There is something in ad-land that tells them where you are-I get ads for local Austrealian products and services. I can't imagine Admin can do anything about what ads we see......

CarrieAnne 10-28-2010 04:53 AM

I havent seen any here. Hate the phone ones too!

Pam B 10-28-2010 06:10 AM

Until you mentioned it...I had not even noticed. I hate seeing political ads, anyplace. I ignore them as I drive and mute the TV when they are on. I just tune them out!

littlehud 10-28-2010 02:38 PM

I don't get any on here. They must be blocked.

plainjane 10-28-2010 03:01 PM

I don't think we all see the same ads here. Just now, there is an ad directing you to youtube to watch junk on a "specific to my state" ad. I think info on what you search or look at on a web site is somehow sold to a marketing "something". I was looking at buying a little specific shoe for the GD and my screen was crawling with ads about these shoes. Also the online store I usually shop for clothes is usually there. It's kind of scary that so much about youself is floating around for someone to pick up on. I agree with most that I will be glad for this whole mud slinging time to be over. Also the weeks after, everything has to be rehashed. I have not watched the news in 3 years. You can get live radar and forcasts on your computer for weather. Looking for to Project Runway finale tonoght!

MistyMarie 10-28-2010 03:03 PM

I think I will go in and delete all my cookies and see if that makes a difference as to what ads show up.
