Does anybody know anything about Punch Needle? My DDIL is starting to do it, and she's frustrated about learning how to re-thread. Does anybody know of site that might show how to do it?

I have done it , not sure what you mean by rethreading ? I just pull the thread all the way done the needle, they do sell a threader to help similiar to like what you use for regular needles .

I learned years ago from Gail Bird. This link has a page on Tricks and Tips that may help her.

I typed my question in as I was talking to Susan at about 6pm, and I told her there would be answers soon. I was absolutely right! You gals are amazing. I've sent the info on to her.

I bought a set of punch needles at the Paducah quilt show two years ago. The next year I took them right back to the vendor and said show me exactly how to use these, not a one minute demo as I can't get them to do anything but punch a hole in my fabric. There were too many customers around for her not to have a lesson for me. I stayed there until I was sure I had the proper technique. They all want to sell but few seem to care if you actually learn how to do it. And the good punch needles and frame are not cheap.

I have a skinny metal threader that goes through the tool and then the thread is placed inside and pulled back through it. Hard to explain without visuals. Hope some of the videos help. I love doing punch needle - yet another different way of relaxing besides knitting and sewing for me.

I bought the dritz embroidery frame with legs. Looks just like the expensive ones they sell at the shows, just half the price. And I used my Joann's coupon and got it even cheaper! It works great!
