I've had enough quilting for a while and I wonder if anyone has branched off into making handbags. I've made 28 queen-size quilts for all of my kids, grandkids and great grands. There are so many beautiful handbag patterns available, but I've never tried one and wonder if it's all that difficult.

There are easy handbag patterns and hard ones just like with quilts. I love making tote bags, and have recently bought a few purse patterns. Go for it!

After you make 1 or 2 bags, they are really easy.

I agree, it is hard in the beginning but it gets easier. :) Alot of people seem to like the bowtucks handbag. :)

I had some fabric that I was dying to make into something and a quilt was just gonna take too long. Needed instant gratification! lol So I made a purse and posted it... (with pics)

Search bags and totes there are some good ones on here.

I make them in between quilts. I have some favorite commercial patterns but usually just "wing it".

I love making handbags. When I finish a quilt I usually make something different like a handbag or quilted jacket.
