Is there any place that takes really worn out clothing, towels, etc?

I hate to just dump it in the trash, but I don't know what else to do with it.

This stuff is beyond being used for rags, but hasn't quite disintegrated completely yet.

could you cut them up and fill a pillowcase full for a dog kennel?

If it is all cotton, it makes a great compost filler. Remove all buttons or metal, tear the cloth to strips and toss it in a compost or bury it in your flower beds.

I didn't know that - but it makes sense.

There is textile recycling here in NYC. Maybe someplace near you too.

Donate 'em to the animal shelter. They'd love to use 'em for dog beds, etc.

This stuff is cut up garments, the collars and cuffs, etc. If we were allowed to have a burning barrel out here, it would be in it.

If you want to see amazing things made with recycled sweaters, check out one of my all time favorite artists. (I went insane and bought a coat from her last week. I just could not stop myself.)

I'd tear them into strips and braid rugs with them
