I have a Janome 6500 and the foot that is supposed to make ruffles. Not the big multi-faceted lever type ruffler but a small silver one I bought from my Janome dealer.
Like the one seen here: http://content.janome.com/index.cfm/...thering%5FFoot

I can't get mine to make a gather to save my life! HAs anyone else seen one or used one??? Any hints or advice appreciated!

it specifies light weight fabric. it looks like a very thin gingham is being used in your link. how heavy is your fabric.?

I think that you should have got the ultimate ruffler. It sounds like it is for normal weight fabric and it looks like the rufflers that come with our vintage machines. Good luck.

I looked up the gathering foot from the link you posted and it gave a chart for using. Here is the chart:

weight of fabric top tension stitch length

lightweight 4-5 3-3 1/2
Medium weight 5-7 4-4 1/2
Heavy weight 8-10 5

Try this and see if it works for your gathering foot. Good luck and let us know. patti
